Manchester United youngster Fraizer Campbell has joined on loan until January.

The Huddersfield-born striker has impressed at youth and reserve level for United, signing professional terms in March 2006.

He gained some experience in a loan spell with Royal Antwerp in Belgium last season, and has made two appearances from the bench for United's first team

Yet another player who should benefit from a loan. The Championship level should suit him well at this point in his career.

Tigers pounce for Campbell
United youngster joins Hull
By Graeme Bailey Last updated: 18th October 2007

The 20-year-old has agreed a three-month loan deal at The KC Stadium and could make his debut against Watford this weekend.

Campbell has been involved with United's first-team this season - making his debut against Manchester City, but Sir Alex Ferguson has allowed him to move on a temporary deal.

"I don't think it's any secret that we like Fraizer and he's coming to us from a good club," said manager Phil Brown.

"We believe he can do a good job and the important thing for us now is to make him feel very much at home and get him into the fold as quickly as possible.

"We have a very tight-knit, super group of lads and I'm sure he'll enjoy his time here.

"We've watched Fraizer over a period of months rather than weeks. Our chief scout Bob Shaw has seen him on several occasions as have Brian Horton and myself.

"He was also on the television a number of times during Manchester United's pre-season because he played a lot of games.

"I think we're all aware of his ability and what he can bring to us. It's all about giving him the confidence and opportunity to show that, which is something I'm sure we'll do."

Journos love their animal puns, don't they? Didn't Wolves "pounce" on Gibson too?

May not be the most attractive club we could have sent Campbell to, but for sure it will do him some good if he gets some goals and a run in the team. This move I'll keep a keener eye on than most as I really do like Campbell.

great run and cool finish for the first, brilliant strength and composure for the second. was clearly elbowed in the box as well but the ref gave nothing. hell of a home debut.

Just been talking to a few city fans, they want to sign him in January, had a very good game. He also had an okay game against Watford, was subbed in the second half.

It's impressive, considering he hasn't been playing regular football for the first couple of months of the season. If he can maintain a good scoring record for Hull, then it will be a good sign for his future success.

This loan spell will definitely be good for his development and it seems for Hull as well. It was certainly doing him no good sitting in the reserves.

Speaking of Hull, didn't they recently sign Okocha?
Yup and Pederson.

Another goal and MOTM performance at the weekend. Scored a peno last week.

Seems to be doing everything that's asked of him, may yet turn out to have an impact at MUFC.
People seem to be loving him round here, wanting him on a permenant basis.

It seems that in the Championship that Campbell is doing exceptionally well. This is positive, as it's certainly more competitive than the reserve league and more physical. It's that part of his game I'm interested to hear about. He's only slight, but is he coping with the physical aspect of that league? If so then I have every confidence that he can make it at United.

However, United's record for buying forwards, and not producing forwards is quite well known. However, if he continues with this, it's replacing Saha that I think SAF might have in mind for Campbell. Whilst he may not be (at the moment) a better player, he's got every chance to become so, and his attributes are quite similar to Saha (though injuries every other day isn't one of them thankfully!).

Agree with you, in part, but I don't think replacing Saha is what he has in mind for Campbell, more a sort of under-study.

He is skinny but he's not short and he will fill out. If he keeps improving at this rate he might yet turn out to be a long-term replacement for Saha but that's a very big if and I reckon he'll stay out on loan until the end of the season, at least.

That's what I actually mean, not to replace him right now, but at a later date.

He's playing in front of 17,000 each week as well. As I say, I've not heard a bad word about the lad yet, just can't get to any games to see him due to working every weekend, and I can't be fecked to bike to there training ground these days, other wise I'd of got him to hold a sign saying the caf's full of cnuts.

Next game is a local Derby against Scunthorpe away from home. Glanford park not the nicest of places to visit, could be quite a physical game.

Fraizer Campbell has hinted he wants to stay at City

FRAIZER Campbell will stay at Hull City to spearhead their play-off push if he keeps enjoying life at the KC Stadium.

The 20-year-old striker is set to see his current loan-deal from Manchester United expire on January 19.

But, having made an impressive start to his spell with three goals in eight games, City will look to extend the deal until the end of the season.

Campbell, who will again lead the Tigers' attack when Cardiff arrive tomorrow, admits he is relishing the challenge of Championship football.

"It's a learning curve that I'm really enjoying at the minute" Campbell told the Mail.

"I've only been here a month or so and it's a bit hard for me to say at the moment what I'll be doing for the season.

"But I'm enjoying my football a lot over here and if it comes to January and I'm still enjoying it, then I can't see why I wouldn't want to stay for the full season."

Although held in high-regard by Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, Campbell is not yet thought to be in the first-team picture.

It is understood the Premier League champions will be happy to see the rookie striker continue his apprenticeship and Campbell believes he is earning valuable experience.

Excellent news. Hope that we groom him and Wellbeck to be our future strikers. Maybe next season, he will back at United to play some Carling Cup matches, FA Cup games and some game time in the Premiership and Champions League

8 goals in 20 games now, still it will be hard for hom to get in the squad.
It shouldn't be. Next season we will have him, Manucho, Wellbeck and Dong challneging for a first time forwad role. Bearing in mind Fergie lieks Saha alot, he oftend gets injured, Frazier has more experience than Wellbeck and is better than Dong he should be able to get his chance along with Manucho. If and only if we sign a player like Benzam awill life be difficult for him

I think if possible, Fraizer should join a Premiership side on loan next season. I think that he's the type of forward that will start to peak only once he's around 23, so till then I think he needs lots of games to gain experience and build his strength.
