Charlton have a mixed history, they had a successful women's team that won a FA Cup and a couple of League Cups, but it was disbanded when the Charlton men's team were relegated from the PL in 2007. It was rescued by sponsorship deals - but lost its best players, including Casey Stoney (she moved to Chelsea).
They won the Southern Premier League (the tier below the Championship) last year with a goal difference of 85 and have a good reputation in the Cups. This is their first year in the Championship and they've strengthened their squad in the summer, while keeping most of their old players.
Their form so far. In the Cup, they've won one and lost one. In the League it's P3 W2 D1 L0. They drew 2-2 with Durham who we know are tough to beat. They beat Lewes 4-1 in their last match - which might not sound too impressive until you realise that Lewes up that point had won their opening three matches in the league.
Sounds like it should be a good match.
