Christian Eriksen | Signs for Inter

You really are kidding yourselves if you think that PSG would have it easy in EPL.

Their midfield, Verratti aside, and their defence would have a hard day against any team from the EPL, especially away from home.

They would struggle to make top 4 in EPL, let alone winning it.

Nobody said they'd win it. City are clearly a better side.

They beat you at home in the group stages though and would pretty easily secure third in a league format I think. Their weaknesses become more apparent in cagier, more tactical affairs where loads of firepower can't be as influential as it can be in the league.

Mbappe/Neymar alone would shred teams week in week out.

A- Levy would want a fee similar to what Real paid for Hazard (probably more because it's Levy). A fee we cant/wont pay
B- Whether we like it or not Spurs arguably have as much chance of success in the near future as us. Both sides have about as much chance as one another of winning the PL. We're probably more likely to win a domestic cup but they're in the UCL and we're not. Unless Eriksen is money driven I cant see why he'd come here (and there's still exhibit A to deal with)
C- in 12 months he'll have his pick of sides all wanting to pick him up on a free, plus he'll pocket a nice signing on fee

Levy understands (or should do) that if he doesn’t cash in this summer, it is highly likely Eriksen will go for a free next year. Does he want a world class player to go for a free?

The wages he is currently on are derogatory for the player of such calibre (Hudson-Odoi has reportedly agreed a higher wage now). If Eriksen goes for a free, he will be in a position to command at least Alexis level wage. As such, chances of him signing a new contract are virtually zero.

As such, the alternatives are a) sell him now for cash and b) release him next year for free. Option a) is actually quite sensible

But probably Eriksen is quite happy with B and entitled to go down that route. He's seen Ramsey doing it an ending up on £400k a week.

No but nor will he sell for less than what he deems the market value for a player like Eriksen to be. Levy will not be bullied, he'd rather let Eriksen go for free than sell him for anything less than 80m

Considering he hasn’t signed a new contract, why not?

He wants to go somewhere to win titles, no offense but with City and Liverpool on current form, United isn't a place where that is guaranteed to happen in the next season or 2.

How can spurs afford Lo Celso and Ndombele...

How can we not? £55M for Ndombele and £45M for Lo Celso probably £25M for Sessingon. £120M give or take spend, we have gotten £10M for Janssen, £20M for Trippier, and possibly £20-25M for Rose. We have had a net or less spend for a few seasons.

This is what Eriksen said,

“Everyone wants it as soon as possible, but in football things take time. It depends on [Spurs chairman] Daniel Levy, and another club has to come in, or I have to sit down at the table and negotiate a new contract. You can’t set a date yourself. There are not many points that Tottenham cannot meet. It is hard. It depends on the possibilities. If nothing pops up that is more exciting, then why not stay in Tottenham? If I then sign a new contract, it depends on the conditions.”

It seems he is waiting for "another club" to me that means he is waiting for one, Madrid. He goes on to say if nothing more exciting comes up he will sit down and negotiate a contract. I do believe that his new contract, if he signs, will have a release clause.

What is the problem to pay 80m for Eriksen?

We wont pay it

And actually I was wrong Hazard moved to Real for £88m so that's more like what Levy would want if not more because it's Levy

Pretty much this, he didn't cost us the world, and we have certainly have good value from him. Again I think he will sign a new contract (with conditions) IF a club he doesn't deem "exciting" comes in for him.

“We won’t pay it” based on what? We are negotiating a 80m for Maguire, it is a given we would have paid the same (or roundabouts) for Eriksen. Besides, Woodward would have come out of this as a hero

Of course, if we follow this route some players should be sold afterwards - but not because we don’t have monies, but rather because Eriksen won’t be rotated much.

Other than money, what reason would Eriksen have to go to you?

Based on the fact that we haven't paid 80m for Maguire have we. Maybe eventually we will but maybe we wont

Maguire is one year into a new 5 year deal, Eriksen is coming into his last year, that's the reason why Maguire is costing so much. If he was in his last year I would say his fee would be around £35M.

They used to win meaningful things with that Ferguson guy.

Except yeah it would just be money and if he was on a free United aren’t the only club in football with money.

I can’t see him going to United at all. In all honesty (plus biased optimism) I really do think it’s Real Madrid or a new Spurs contract for him.

Perhaps he is not sure RM or Barcelona will be calling in the end of the day - there are other players in the world as well, and places are limited.
If he joins United, Pogba stays and at the same time United also strengthen RW and CB positions, our squad will actually become relatively competitive and can fight for the title even. And money too, of course, no one would argue against this.

As opposed to the meaningful things he’s won at Spurs?

More than Pogba then? Crazy.

The market have changed, Pogba joined a while ago and salaries of top players have risen since. Please bear in mind we (if rumours are to be believed) are finalising a 6-year deal for de Gea worth... 375k/w.
To add to this, if we actually want to keep Pogba for long term he will certainly also be offered at least de Gea money to sign an extention.

Eriksen would be a dream signing for me, because i’m Danish. But also because he is a really good player that fits the type of profile we lack. He is versatile and two footed, so he can play left, right or in the middle. Very creative and good at setting up other players. Martial, Rashford and Lingaard would all benefit from it. It would also take some of the burden of Pogba. I think we really lack players who’s main strength is their passing. We really only have Pogba(and Mata, but lets be honest he is not starting quality anymore).

For Eriksen it’s probably between Real, Barca and Spurs, but it wouldn’t hurt to at least entertain a bid. I think the biggest problem is the lack of Champions League and of course Levy. But we are a bigger club, especially in Denmark.

I doubt it will happen though...

You know exactly what I am talking about, Pogba has said he wants a "new challenge", his agent has said he wants out. I said at the start of all this Pogba could very well sign a new contract. If United have the same season they had last season what stops Pogba doing exactly the same thing? Pogba has been rumbling about his unhappiness since Jose was in charge.

It has nothing to do with "extra 50K", If we don't improve he will leave as he won't waste his prime years playing for club that's not achieving much. This throw him 50K and he will shut up is just ridiculous.

It really isn't, players and certainly ones with agents like fat face do this constantly to bleed as much money as possible, if Pogba really wanted to leave so badly he wouldn't sign a new contract that would keep his value high. Rooney did the same thing. Player gets more cash, agent gets a big fee, rinse and repeat.

Because we're a monster fecking club.

How's that meant to help Eriksen with his short term goals of winning trophies and playing in the CL?

Right now you're not a club well suited to those goals. He wants a move to a Real/Barca type team who are also monster clubs, but also still at the top of their game.

Yeah that 50K is going to change everything when he can get shit loads more when he moves to different club.

Ronaldo wanted to leave so badly, signed contract and still left. Signing contract doesn't mean players stay forever. Public won't know what's the agreement between player and the club. For all we know, new contract with better wages is to get 1 more season from him before allowing him to leave.
