The Shaun Custic and Henry Winter Show last Sunday. Custis was trying to make out that we wanted public money to build the stadium. Winter pulled him up on that and said it you read the article and listened to his interviews SJR did not say that at all. Custis went quiet.

What a meltdown.
I thought about how to respond to you but I can’t really go into a battle of wits with an unarmed man
This isn’t correct.

Revamping the area will involve more than just a new stadium.

There will be huge civil projects, outwith Manchester United, that would logically require funding and co-ordination by many enterprises - be that public or private.

You could easily flip your assertion and ask why would Manchester United fund civil redevelopment of the area (outwith stadium and related commercial developments).

It’s an expansive ambition that will require multiple solutions. Not a binary x pays or y pays
It’s absolutely correct, the regeneration could and probably would have public money injected into it, he wants the stadium too also. I’s abhorrent from a man who doesn’t pay tax in this country. I’m struggling to grasp how people cannot understand why this is just so wrong ???

I didn't say that was his primary objective (it isn't) but that's the argument for using public funding to help with the stadium project.

There are benefits to the government in aiding these big projects despite the stadium being for a privately owned entity. More jobs and a more attractive looking Manchester is a good thing
The only real benefit is to Sir Jim’s bulging bank balance. Do you really think it’s going to ensure the local community have a gold paved road to the or promised land dripping in riches ? It will be minimum wage jobs created mainly, the “beneficiaries” would be paying more effective tax than billion dollar Jim, it’s scandalous for him to even propose it. Does he realise what Manchester is all about ? He might as well be Sir Jim Glazer . . .

Pretty sensible from United. Listening to people who are proven in their area at the highest level

Sounds simple and obvious, but we’ve had years of just trusting the first bloke who walks in

I'm not sure SJR actually said he wanted the UK Tax payer to fund the new stadium or refurb or OT, he was talking about the redevelopment of the whole area when the Government was mentioned. I might be wrong. Semantics anyway. The guy has paid UK tax for 65 years, his companies in the UK employ over 10,000 people all of whom pay taxes. He said he moved to Monaco for the Sun and all those who snipe at him would do the same if they could. Just envy from the Media who ignore the fact that City's owners jail anyone they don't like. Amnesty International flew a banner over the Council Ground in November before the Liverpool game (not shown on TV) calling on the UAE to free Ahmed Mansoor who is a human rights campaigner jailed for six years. Amnesty asked all City fans to join in a campaign to free the bloke. Fat chance of that, as they couldn't care if Putin owned the club as long as they had the money. So the media focus on a multi-billionaire, on paper not cash, because he made comments about the Government and re-developing South Manchester. The ABU's win again. BTW who funded the Emptyhad and West Hams ground?

He moved to Monaco when he 65 I think after being the largest tax payer in the country for many years so i actually dont begrudge him on that front, still he is a Brexit cnut though

  • "I think the Qataris got to about $5.75 billion. We said to them, ‘You’re within 10 per cent, why don’t you get in a room and try to get to a deal.’ But they said no. I think they were very conscious of criticism if they were seen to be overpaying.
  • “Ultimately we think they would have been good owners but we think the Glazers made the right decision not to take the lesser value, and go with Ratcliffe instead.”

Eeek, I’m old enough to remember when there was a load of “I told you so’s” in here laughing at people for believing Qatar was ever an option and Jassim clearly never existed…

Fo you want to tag yourselves? You were very quick to post when Ratcliffe mad his jokey remarks.

Sounds like the PL's PSR is set to be scrapped this summer and replaced with a set of finance rules similar to UEFA's SCR. Wonder what impact, if any, that will have on our ability to spend.

So at least we know for definite the Glazers are willing to f*ck off completely once they get their full value. Ratcliffe will eventually buy them out would be my guess.

Based on what? Based on the fact that they wanted to sell only if someone wanted to pay over the odds? Now, with fresh money in the club and their pockets, they have zero reasons to sell. Jim fecked us up but it is something what people don't want to hear.

Clearly you have decided he can do no good for this club. Typical this article has come out to stir up feelings again which isn't helpful

Jim (or Ineos more likely) will buy us, probably 2-3 years. He’s played the game and kept Glazers onside … sprat to catch a mackerel.

It’s a bit of a read but interesting. Without being in the room when the deal was struck, the contract clauses (and what clever legal people say) is as close as we’ll get.

That is false logic. Actually, i am very optimistic about his role. So far i love what i am seeing. But, i do think that this mini takeover will allow Glazers to stay for years. Because they don't need to sell anymore. If we do well under Jim....they will not be even interested in selling.

I guess both
I get a Michael Owen vibe from him based on how he looks and his mannerisms. He’s just a German Owen let’s be real. Also the very few quotes I’ve seen of him seem cringe. I can only see him becoming a meme if he joins.

Overhyped because I think most of his hype comes from the fact he started young. He hasn’t actually done anything I think it particularly impressive if you take away the age element

So you don't think that crazy rise he took Hoffenheim to, the work he did with Leipzig and the premature sack at Bayern were not generally impressive stints?
Just want to understand a baseline, I assume you would also rule out most the Serie A managers and Amorim on the same basis?

I wouldn't move to Monaco, I'd stick with Lancashire. Or maybe the Dales or Lakes, but not Monaco anyway.

I don’t think his stints are stand out, no. Only when you consider how old he was, as I said. If it was just some 50 year old manager doing those things at those clubs, it wouldn’t be particularly noteworthy.

As for the bold, absolutely correct I would rule them out too. Because I’m going off the basis of INEOS saying they want the best in class and to be “the best club in England, Europe and the World again”. Ferguson, Klopp, Guardiola, Mourinho.. these aren’t managers who did just alright at clubs. These are managers who were seriously impressive and established before coming to England. Don’t know why people keep pretending that we can just get another meh manager and become great again. United need the best available

Nothing impressive about a premature sack.
Played good football, very much favorites for all domestic competitions, played the best football in Europe's elite competition (most goals scored, if I'm not mistaken also least conceded in the CL).

Who would be the best available (and attainable) in your eyes? Assuming you want to move on Ten Hag
