Stop it. The same Qatar that drew 3-3 with Panama in their first game? Panama were just beaten by Honduras.Qatar to win it all
They do not need to qualify for WC, so are here for competitive game experience.Qatar Airways is the official partner, i.e., paying the big dollars and probably the reason Qatar are in the tournament.
While also true, the partnership is obviously the reason. They do not need to qualify for WC, so are here for competitive game experience.
Oh, for sure. I was more suggesting why they would want to be there. While also true the partnership is obviously the reason.
The US going would be a political hot potato. There has already been some grumbling by folks saying we should boycott WC22 ( U.S coach Gregg Berhalter doubts World Cup boycott would be effective (espn.com) ).https://www.sportingnews.com/us/soc...oncacaf-tournament/1fj0s37ancy801xmumqe4d0wwy
Article says Qatar will return in 2023 as part of a partnership agreement. Will this see Mexico and/or US in some sort of future tournament over there (World Cup aside)?
He got injured in training before the tournament started. How come Alphonso Davies is not playing for Canada?
Ah that's a shame, would have loved to see how he was playing for the NTHe got injured in training before the tournament started.
You lose Zimmerman, and we lose Akinola. Fair trade?Tough one but I don’t think it’s a pen since the first foul was on the Canadian player. As I type this Dr Joe agrees, so here comes a pen.
Ha! No. You still have Larin and our 3(!) CB’s have a combined like 5 caps. You lose Zimmerman, and we lose Akinola. Fair trade?
I was responding to the WCQ prospects. The Gold Cup would be a different matter, though with that said, Akinola's tournament is most likely over.Ha! No. You still have Larin and our 3(!) CB’s have a combined like 5 caps.
Ah, got it. How many of this starting 11 for Canada would you consider part of your best 11?I was responding to the WCQ prospects. The Gold Cup would be a different matter, though with that said, Akinola's tournament is most likely over.
Half of them. Laryea, Johnston, Vitoria, Hoilett/Osorio (depending on the team), and Larin are definitely in our strongest team.Ah, got it. How many of this starting 11 for Canada would you consider part of your best 11?
Ultimately, it's all about money. CONCACAF cannot afford to not have at least one of Mexico or The USA in the final. Preferably, both of course.Very nice of them to change the knockout group winners vs runners up format just to make sure Mexico and USA avoid each other in the QFs.
If Dike and Zardes are not going to press then GB needs to consider a formation change. We are a man short in the midfield with 2 strikers and it is showing.Canada has gained more control of the match as the half has progressed, but the U.S. is tough to breach when they're set in their shape. We're missing Eustaquio's creativity and incision that a 2nd striker would offer us. Buchanan and Laryea have been less influential after we changed our formation due to Akinola's injury, but I'm hoping that we up our tempo in the 2nd half. We have nothing to lose at this point.
To be fair, your defence has done a good job in preventing us from getting a good look at your goal, but even that's becoming more difficult for the U.S. defence. If Dike and Zardes are not going to press then GB needs to consider a formation change. before Zimmerman’s injury Sands was roving front of the back 2 and cuttingout a lot of your entry passes. Since Zimmerman went out it looks like Sands is staying closer to home and our MF is showing gaps. That is allowing Canada to easily get up the field. To be fair, your defence has done a good job in preventing us from getting a good look at your goal, but even that's becoming more difficult for the U.S. defence.
Yeah, that's definitely a concern for you guys, though I'd also add that Larin's dragging your defenders around and compelling you guys to drop back more as a result.before Zimmerman’s injury Sands was roving front of the back 2 and cuttingout a lot of your entry passes. Yeah, so no changes.Yeah, that's definitely a concern for you guys, though I'd also add that Larin's dragging your defenders around and compelling you guys to drop back more as a result.
Yeah, and that's been good for us so far. Berhalter needs to bring in a 3rd midfielder to shore things up.Yeah, so no changes.
I think Twellman is reading the caf, he just stole my analysisYeah, and that's been good for us so far. Berhalter needs to bring in a 3rd midfielder to shore things up.
It's why I was somewhat concerned when I saw so many of those first-team players. The U.S. tend to play aggressively against us, and the last thing we need is a bunch of injuries.Crap. No good for Canada.
Hey Gregg, the entire us midfield looks completely gassed. I mean, no shit you dumbass, you have them covering 80% of the field with no support . He is so lacking with in game management.Yup, the U.S. can't counter anymore. They have to get a 3rd midfielder in to pick up the ball and allow them to keep possession.
Nah, you have nothing to worry about. We've struggled to create/finish off chances throughout the match.Oh feck. Here comes Yuell. You’re welcome Canada.
