Raees writeup
Gordon Greenidge - World Cup Winner in 1975/1979 (finalist in 1983) ... tremendous aggressive opener who had a exceptionally strong record on the big stage, averaging 84 in the 1979 tournament.
Nathan Astle - after struggling early on in his ICC career, the turning point for Astle was 2003 after which he became a cornerstone in All Blacks batting order.
Navjot Sidhu - one of India's best big match ODI batsman and playing at 3 during 1987, he averaged 55 - dominating Australia in the two games he faced them.
Jonathan Trott - A story of what might have been. Englands 'rock' during the 2011 World Cup and followed this with a brilliant ICC Champions Trophy showing. Stress-related issues meant, he never played in a tournament again post 2013.
Hansie Cronje - a fallen idol, but a ODI legend for the Proteas, his best performance came in the 1996 World cup averaging 55 with the bat.
Brad Haddin (WK) - Took off from where Gilchrist left off, averaging close to 50 as a lower order batsman for Australia in World Cups, making several key innings during the 2011 run to the final and finally winning it in 2015.
Ian Botham - With the ball Botham was a super dangerous wicket taker in ICC Tournaments, with a glittering array of victims under his belt including likes of Tendulkar, Border and Miandad. Showed in 1992, he could also bat in hostile conditions too.
Saqlain Mushtaq - Became a international star in the 1999 world cup, spinning Pakistan into the World Cup Final. Victims included the likes of Ponting and Kallis. Very very economical.
Shane Bond - Despite his injury record, he featured in 5 ICC tournaments and blew everyone away. His strike rate says it all, searing pace and unerring accuracy.
Joel Garner - His 5 wicket haul in the 1979 final announced his arrival on the world stage, and from then on he became arguably the best ODI bowler of all time.
Wasim Akram - SNM absolute baller of the highest order and his performance in the 1992 final and across the 1999 world cup will stand the test of time.

Batting
The great Viv Richards leads the line up with a 100 against his name in a WC final. He was pretty much the best batsman in world ups until Sachin came about. Martin Crowe, player of the tournament in 92 WC, further cements the middle order. He was phenomenal in that world cup both as a player and a captain. Haynes and Johnson open the batting. Haynes needs no introduction while Johnson proved his mettle in 99 WC with great performances against the 2 best sides in the tournament - Oz and SA. Watson will play the role of enforcer/finisher in the line up with support of Jadeja - who can forget that innings against Pak in 96 WC, 45 off 25 balls!. Brendon Taylor was absolutely brilliant for Zimbabwe in 2015 WC with aggregate of 405 runs.
Bowling
Alan Donald, Zaheer Khan and Damien Fleming is an excellent trio of pacers. Donald was consistent for SA in WCs as his records reflects while Zaheer Khan had a great world cup for India in 2003 (despite the poor performance in the final) and was possibly India's second most important player in 2011 World cup win. Even in the 2011 final where his final figures were not good due to leaking runs in the end, he pretty much set up the win by choking SriLanka at the beginning of the innings. Mushtaq Ahmed takes up the role of spinner having played the same role in 92 WC win for Pakistan with excellent figures. Watson and Johnson join the line up with both capable of bowling 10 overs each. Another bowling option is Richards making 7 bowlers in total.
Summary - 8 out of 11 players have better record in ICC tournaments compared to their career one. (Border line for Jadeja and Donald too). Overall team has great pedigree in terms of historically great ODI players with match winning performances in world cups.
