Now we just need a strong statement from the clubs supporters group to ensure the club knows CR7 should not wear the shirt again, so they truly know how most united fans feel.
Have there been a statement by any well recognised supporters group yet on this?
Think that's been the clubs biggest problem actually. Trying hard to appease fans when hard actions need to be taken. The truth is, they should have actually pushed Ronaldo out this Summer. However, everyone was trying to be diplomatic despite the aggression on his own end being apparent. Yes, the media and some of the fans who are now not on his side, would have attacked the club for treating a "legend" like that, but it's what other top sides would have done. The club did everything right by Ronaldo and went far and beyond to ensure that he was treated well, like we do with every player considered somewhat legendary ( which hasn't worked in our favour lately).
For me, due to the fact that they know they're not liked and have never been liked, the Glazers can be a bit too passive in addressing issues. Under Woodward, we allowed countless managers to stink up the place far longer than they should have, we have players in the club currently who should have been let go 3 years ago, we have kept patience with so many players who haven't been meeting the clubs standards and we have tried really hard to promote some of the academy players that we have despite the fact that a lot of them are nowhere near the quality United should have. Everyone talks about the Glazers being evil entities that have been running the club into the ground due to their sheer lack of care, instead I actually think they've hurt the club by not actually being aggressive. They've been far too respectful and therefore a bit too subservient to the media, the fans and the players. Call them what you want, but Bayern and Real Madrid have hyper aggressive executives who are not afraid to be ruthless when they are attacked. City's constantly sweep stories from the press under the rug and hardly give a response. You had a whole summer where fans were consistently berating the club over transfers despite the fact we had a good window, while the club gave responses of trying, stating they understand etc. We shouldn't be that generous in terms of responses.
