Dani Olmo | Barcelona player

This. Teams playing unregistered players, selling hotel and women teams to themselves to beat the rules. It’s a farce and I’ve long stopped getting worked up about it.
+1 for both posts.

It’s an absolute mess and the stuff that happens off the pitch makes the stuff that happens on it much less enjoyable

Still…as a Utd fan I’m sat here with 1 eye on the Merseyside derby. They’ve got us by the balls

Edit…even the stuff on the pitch is infuriating. Just watched Diaz fall and roll clutching his ankle. Doesn’t get free kick. Up straight away. The game is a mess but I still can’t help but turn on. See bold above

So if true, what are/will be the likely repercussions?
for the auditor? I'm assuming their company might be on the line, if not potential jail time

For barcelona? Who knows

Case in point:

I'm not sure I understand the dynamics of Spanish football. How can the government unilaterally give this kind of permission on sporting matters? Isn't this something for La Liga or the Spanish FA to investigate and rule on?

There's usually a sports governing body in a country (or, say, in Europe, like CAS) that isn't an FA and can overrule its decisions (as you can't bypass country's laws even if your own internal rules contradict them). It's not often that they collide so publicly as they're usually working closely together but CAS regularly overrules bans & other decisions because they deem them unlawful.

It was CSD that gave Barcelona the permission to play Olmo in the first place (I'm pretty sure that La Liga didn't). And now La Liga went over their heads to still ban him but CSD said that they don't have that authority. Seems complicated and so characteristically political!
