David Seaman was an absolute...

It dissapoints me how Seaman is to be remembered from the ungrateful fans who blamed him for the 2-1 loss against Brazil.

For over a decade he has been an unsung hero to England and to the only team that could stop the glorious United from becoming the clear rulers of the league. The amount of superb saves that Seaman has produced for England is absolutely amazing, and yet no-one even remembers it!

He poured his heart and soul into England, and in the end it was thrown back into his face! I'll always remember him as a superb goalkeeper, and his expertise will be greatly missed!

I feel edgy to associate myself with the fans that criticise Seaman, and say he is crap.

I just hope some people can remember him for his good moments, because they were many, other than his very few bad moments.

Hear hear. I fully agree with what you say.

But it is a reaction from United fans who get hacked off being told by ABUs, that every player in every position in the United team is absolutely rubbish, e.g. the Nevilles, particularly Gary, Cole, Yorke, Beckham when he was with us, even Schmeichel for a long time was criticised by some ABUs when he was great for us. It also amazes me how, once they are sold, they were the best player we had.

However, back to your point, Seaman was a good keeper and deserved to be England no. 1 for as long as he was, although he did make some mistakes near the end. Even Shilton did that though.

It's good to see that someone else actually recognises what Seaman did for us. Everyone will miss Seaman has soon as James has a bad day! I will actually enjoy it when James f**k's it all up. Just as long as it mean nothing! Oh, he will! Just you wait and see!

Hear, hear. Just look at the man's medal collection and you will see whether he was any good. For England, he was outstanding. Walker, Martyn, James were nowhere near as good.

The trouble with being a keeper is that when you make a mistake, it generally means a goal. That is not so with every other position. Thus, keepers who enjoy a long career in the top-flight tend to build up a dossier of 'howlers'. The one's that spring to mind for Spunky are Nayim, the Gazza freekick in the FA Cup semi, and the Ronaldinho goal. Two of those were moments of genius, the Nayim one was a complete fluke. It is harsh to label a keeper as crap for stuff like that.

I prefer to look at his efforts in Euro '96, and that save against Peschisolido (when he was 39!). Plus the decade of reliable keeping he put in for Arse. Conceding fewer than 20 goals in a whole season is a phenomenal accomplishment.

But, he should have quit last season. I guess I would want to go on as long as I could though. It must be hard giving it up.

I just can't stop chucking that City actually signed a goalie that had already retired and neglected to tell them. Anybody with any sense could see that Seaman's day job and focus was building a celebrity tv career. Playing between the sticks for City at the weekend was just a lark, just some northern pub team he could have a laugh with and sting for £30K a week while recording I am a Celebrity Sports Twat, Sign Me Up For That.
Top manager that KK. Has an unwavering laser eye for over-the-hill ex-England talent.

He sure gave us a few great pisstakes of him that's for sure
