Don’t get why Kane was played so far away from goal. And why didn’t they push both Stones and Maguire into the box and just kept them crosses coming.
I’d say poor management lost England this game.

Spurs players did everything they can but with Ashley and Marcus... Sterling were bad at the last choice but way more interesting.

Croatia aren’t all that, people on here making out that they are. You’re all cnuts.
Croatia are an above average international side with a few really high quality players, but they are not an elite level team. It is a missed opportunity for England.

Massive credit to Croatia though, a country of 4 million people getting to a world cup final, wonderful story, massive achievement, they finished 3rd in 98 as well, have to love a country that punches well above their weight.

Argentina and Belgium came at them, the teams I stated played the same way Croatia will.
Croatia haven't got it in them to keep it tight like that. For example today, they were much better when they played on the front foot from the second half on. In the first half, England really should've scored another.

Spoken like a true Scotland supporter, who lets face it have as much chance of winning the WC as flying to the moon on the back of a carrier pigeon.
We're all very aware of how poor our national team is. Doesn't mean I can't enjoy your failure, all yer jingoistic pish, and patriotism with its BNP Brexit, keep Britain about British nonsense makes it all the sweeter when you fail.

Hell mend yees!

Pathetic performance, should of killed that game in the first half. What is the point in continuing to play Sterling ? Alls he does is run in to brick walls.

And how does Henderson get so much praise ? He either does a short side/back pass or boots it to the opposition keeper. Does he do that all the time for Liverpool ?

We've seen in this tournament pretty frequently that France struggle to break down a tight defence. Croatia played on the counter against Argentina when they had such great success.

Talk about exaggeration. They were crap in the second half. It was all Croatia.
It was all England in the first half (we could and perhaps should have put the game to bed during that period). The second half was end-to-end stuff and it wasn't until Croatia equalized that they took control of the game. Over the initial 90 minutes, England dominated the game longer than Croatia did - they just weren't clinical enough in front of goal.

Reminded me of United from the last few years.

Ultimately England paid the price for failing to convert dominance into goals when they were on top, having got away with it against lesser opposition. A fair result in the end.

Other observations-

-The ref was poor - Louvren led a charmed life
- despite the talk of England’s younger team and Croatia having played two matches going to 120 minutes, Croatia came out with amazing energy in the 2nd half
- France should have a bit too much for Croatia in the final (as they would for England)
- Despite tonight’s disappointment, England are in a much better place than 4 weeks ago
- there are a couple of real wankers on this site who I hope find another English club to gloryhunt

Croatia are the better team and they deserve the win. I hope they beat France.

No, but it's fecking bizarre to support an English team and actively root against England
Everyone loves an underdog.

There's also the fact only Lingard and Young are in the first XI and none of the higher profile one are ours. The players you dislike are bound to be English, while you will either have sympathy or be indifferent to the Croatian ones.

Hope Croatia will win the final but can't see it. France have more quality and they will be a lot fresher.

England had a great World Cup overall but they fecked this up tonight. They seemingly lost their nerve in the second half. Got scared when they realised what an opportunity they had. But you can't keep giving away the ball like this in a World Cup semi-final.

Let down by lack of concentration in defence and creativity in midfield. Can't complain about the tournament overall.

I knew Croatia would have too much experience and pragmatism for us.

They were good enough to reach the world cup semi-final, and they dominated for large parts of that game. Before the equalizer, England were far and away the better of the two sides.
It's been done to death and I don't want to bore you posting the same arguments again. You came up against two good teams and lost to both of them, that midfield was going to be shown up against quality sides. Dominating for large parts of the game means feckall if you can't pull yourself back in the game after a setback. England lost all their composure after the equalizer, couldn't string 5 passes either. Set-pieces can only get you so far.

England need to find proper CMs to step up to the next level. This current crop ain't gonna cut the muster against the best.
