Dayot Upamecano | Signs for Bayern

We will tie Bailly down to a new 3yr deal and then all this pie in the sky stuff will go up in a puff of smoke;
Harry,Lindelof,Axel and Eric will be our quartet moving forward

The question isn't if he's any less injury prone than Bailly. The question should be if he's injury prone and the evidence suggests he is. He has missed too many games for my liking and having such disruption in game consistency affects potential partnerships from developing and game rhythm.

Konate has only suffered one injury of note in his fledging career thus far and it would be naive to suggest he's injury prone without context.

I'm sure Dante will be along to tell the forum how Adnan has come along to bring up Konate again.

Below is a link to a popular Barca forum with many members valuing technical ability highly which isn't a surprise due to the adopted principles of Cruyff. The below link is a thread on Konate from last year and many Barca fans rate Konate as having more potential than Upamecano and also describe Konate as being technically strong which isn't a surprise to anyone who has watched him play.

I'll also leave this here for the statisticians to chew on regarding technical ability for a CB.

Same as Upamecamo in other words? He has had one knee injury that is split in three in your overview. No injuries this season other than the same knee injury that kept him out for the last half of the season last year.

Other than that only minor injuries. Missed four games in 17/18. No games in 16/17 or 15/16 according to TM.

I would still sign Upamecano even with his niggles because I do rate him as a CB. The reason I shared the tweets was to see what people thought and thanks for your thoughts.

Really dislike the idea of another injury prone central defender. Hope we do our homework regardless of who we sign.

Does anyone here remember Ole saying that Axel was the future for this club?
Man City need another CB as Laporte is the only decent one at the club so when a young player is mentioned the media pull in the name of Manchester United to get more attention to their story.

If these clubs were serious City would go get Upamecano and Chelsea Koulibaly or vice versa

We also have quite publicised history with the player, so not totally random.

What's interesting apart from us having history with the player is his contract situation with his current club which could see him move for a very reasonable sum. So when Ole says that we're ready to 'exploit' any opportunity for potential incomings then pouncing on this particular signing makes sense for the reasons stated.

Indeed. Centre half wouldn’t be the first position I strengthen, but credit to Ole and the squad, we are starting to run out of positions that really need upgrading, and centre half is on that list somewhere.

I know it’s not as simple as that, but sole didn’t sign Lindelöf or promote him. I don’t think he necessarily sees him as his long-term choice.

I suppose anything is possible in football but from what I have seen from Ole so far with giving young players a chance and the recent outlay on the back four and the GK situation I would have a decent bet on us spending no money in that area for quite some time but I know it would be so heavily odds on it would not be worth the outlay.

I generally agree, although I would be OK with spending on a new CB but only to the extent that outgoing CB's raise enough to do so. With Jones, Smalling, Rojo looking like dead wood, I reckon there's 40-50m in transfer proceeds to be yielded there, if that was spent to get a new CB, I think that would be money well spent

Smalling 15mil, Jones 8mil and just getting Rojo off the books will be a result.

We're planning on breaking our transfer record on Sancho. I think any outgoings will be used to compensate

Inappropriate language

I'm getting fed up with your Konate things. Can you just please stop posting them here?

This is Upamecano's thread, I want to read something about him not like gay post of hyping another player. Everytime & every page I bump this thread, I see your post about Konate. In fact, after no one reply to your post previously, somehow you find a way to come here again and post another Konate, haven't you have enough kissing the guy's ass? We aren't going to sign a young centre back who barely even play this season. You'll need to wait another summer window if you expect United to sign this Konate guy.

My suggestion is you create a thread about Konate in Football Forum and talk about how good he is or to be specifically how good he was because he barely even play this whole season due to injury.

Who even are Sport Witness and most importantly are they even reliable or just like to spread bullshit for attention?
They’re an aggregator. They used to do just that, but since they’ve gotten bigger and a taste of fame, they’ll post anything that gets clicks — even if it’s an unreliable source, or that their tweet doesn’t correspond to what an actual article says.

I'm sure Dante will be along to tell the forum how Adnan has come along to bring up Konate again.
If you want me to, sure.

The only surprising thing is that you've not brought up Zakaria at the same time.

They are shit - dont have their own source just copy another sites article.
I mean that's completely wrong. They actually sift through the rubbish and report the foreign articles, then weigh up whether it's worth listening too. To call them shit is unfair.

They do also have a few journalists that work with them.

40m for him represents great value. CB is not a priority but we should not pass such an opportunity if indeed his price tag is around that figure

I’ve not seen this boy play yet but am a little worried that signing another centre back is going to stunt the development of Tuanzebe. I think he’s an excellent prospect and would love to see him get a lot more minutes next season.

Yea because Axel has really been pushing for a place this season. Tuanzebe’s development has been stunted by the fact he can’t get on the pitch for 3 games in a row. And I’m pretty sure he’s already older, and not as good as Upamecano too.

They don’t pass it on as if it’s their own work either - they research foreign reports and pass them on. Very useful at times.

This actually makes sense since he's been on United's radar for a very long time. By many accounts, he should have been at United 3-4 years ago.

Somebody has to talk about alternatives to Partey, Upamecano and De Ligt. Too many people are fixated to certain players and then get a surprise when the likes of Liverpool sign Mane, Firminho etc who turn out far better than the players the forum was fixated on like Depay..

I didn't bring up him you donut. If you read through the previous messages you will see Anders brought him up and then I responded.

You didn't read my post aye? Let me upsize it so you can read ''no one reply to your post previously, somehow you find a way to come here again and post another Konate''

Anders pretty much stop replying to you in previous page and yet you are still blaberring about this Konate things.

I don't need to explain anything to you. You're not the admin of this forum so kindly feck off.

 Why? Your posts don't decide the direction the club is going to take with its transfers. Nobody has to talk about alternatives. Woodward isn't scouring the Caf for ideas about his fallback options. There are threads in the Football Forum for non-linked players if you want to discuss a random footballer's game.

Your fixations on Konate and Zakaria are currently as bad as anybody else's on the forum.

I was asking nicely for you to stop talking this Konate in every threads like he’s your boyfriend or family. The thread itself isn’t about how good Konate and we aren’t linked with the player. And somehow you feel offended with it.

Let’s not pretend that you haven’t been keep talking about Konate in other threads that you had to blame others. Everytime I went to Maguire’s discussion, our defense discussion and even thread that has nothing to do with United & transfer, there is always you talking about Konate. Konate muppet of the year award there.

I come on here to discuss football. I know my posts aren't gonna influence the United hierarchy. But I do watch a fair bit of continental football and do like to share that with a number of members on here. And many do appreciate my posts from what I've been told.

I will carry on talking about potential CB alternatives when it comes to discussing CBs. You should put me on ignore if it bothers you so much, it's really not difficult.

So now you finally admitted it that you are the one brought up this Konate’s discussion. Guess I’m not the donut here

You can bring up his name but you dragged it way too long and made it into Konate’s discussion when it’s about Upamecano. Konate isn’t even linked with United in the first place at the moment. You were even talking about Konate on Spurs thread & Maguire, that’s why I suggested you to create Konate’s thread and overhype him as much as you want there.

I've explained why I brought up a potential CB alternative when a prospective new CB was being discussed. And unless I'm told otherwise by a admin, you're wasting your time telling me how I should post on this forum. Now please, either stop with your made up criteria on how I should post or put me on ignore..

Dude you mentioned Konate name in Sancho, Havertz, Matic, Pochettino thread. None of those four threads are talking about CB. Konate’s chance to join United is almost zero this summer, I had explained it before that your alternative isn’t going to happen, we aren’t going to sign a young centre back who barely even play this season. Get on with it.
