Herrera pay cut is an odd one when he's supposedly on ~70k at the time.
I can see when he was not playing as much under Jose he may have been offered a poor deal long ago. We know from an old interview in April 2018 if I recall, Herrera decided to run down his contract. Ole comes in and he's a focal part of the team and there's obviously more negotiations, as Herrera's recent interviews show. It's not possible the club offered less than 70k while being one of the main men in midfield under Ole very recently with the wages others are on.
There's also not qualifying for top 4 and the alleged pay cuts, you could use that to say he was offered a deal with a pay cut included in example a ~150k per week deal, use some artistic licence or focus on the original offer from way back when he might've known Fred was being lined up, things weren't looking good for him at the end of the 2017-18 season.
Seems more bad timing all round and we couldn't match PSG's offer.
