Not keen on FPL (feck wanting Liverpool to lose but have Salah score 6 or whatever), but as I'll be neutral in pretty much every game not involving Wales, I'll have a go.

What's the deal with this captaincy system? Is there any downside to captaining a random player you have from Italy or Turkey knowing that you can switch it to your big price striker in a later game for nothing if said random Italian/Turk doesn't have an unlikely stormer?

I don't believe there is. You can rotate your captain as long as the next guy has not played, so realistically you have a lot of choice for the entire match day.

No downside apart from not remembering to make the change. It is very easy to miss with early deadlines I think.

If your guy gets a red card you can change the captain, but not sub that guy off. Thus having a shit 4.0 defender could hurt you more than it gains.

Italy defence, Lukaku and Kane in attack. Not must find midfielders. Ffs, that is hard. Is Foden starter or not?

Haha it is not as easy as you think to be rich in football. You buy Ronaldo, Mbappe, Kane and they all blank.
I won't care. At least I will be able to line up my best ever fantasy football team. I will field all the true football greats of this generation: Mbappe, Ronaldo, DeBruyne, Fernandes, Neuer, Seferovic.

I will field them all.

Haha I love how you included Seferovic. Replace him with Marcus Berg and you are good ;).

Do we really want to start a typical cafe-discussion on who can be called a football great and who cannot out of: Haris Seferovic and Marcus Berg?

I was weird enough to check and compare their prices in this euro fantasy, conclusion: They both cost 8,5m.

Yeah they are not cheap. Striker costs are too high in general for the none premiums. If you want to go budget there is Wind if he start for 6 or maybe Che Adams/Dykes at 6.5.

Really struggling with this  are there any budget/under the radar picks?
Looking at Denmark, they could do well, certainly in the group stage. May go for Eriksen and a defender.

I think Allioski (4.5) looks like he got pens. Ricardo Rodriguez(5.5) as well although he missed one.
Both probably not keeping any clean sheets though. High ceiling, but can easily turn into a nightmare if they miss a pen and concede 2 with yellow card etc.
Luckily you can sub them since they play on fairly early days unless they get a red card. Allioski plays pretty attacking even without the pens and he was good for Leeds too.

For 4.5 defenders there are Kjaer, Maehle, Denayer, P Torres, Bednarek, Wijndal. All of them play for a team with a decent chance to win and get a clean sheet.
Mings or Coady might start for England as well if Maguire can't play.

I think Scotland can suprise a few people as an underdog. Adams or Dykes (6.5) might not be bad.
I personally going with Marshall in goal, but not fully sure he is first choice. Maybe someone from Scotland knows more.
Robertson may not be bad if you want to spend extra.
I think as much as I love Mctominay he is not really a fantasy pick even with that Leeds game for us.
Austrian and Danish attacker good for first week, but not fully sure who starts.
Kalajdzic and Braithwaite (7.5) maybe the most safe ones I think.
Personally going with Eriksen and Kalajdzic I think.

Just joined the league. Did my initial team a while back and half of them have been ruled out already. Will be stealing some of them 4.5 picks from Scholes!

Spain (Busquets) and Sweden (Kulusevski and Svanberg) got Covid cases so follow the news. Did not think we would get a lot for Euros after so few club cases this spring.

If you want Pau Torres keep in mind things might change with more infection. I probably think they all isolate so should not be a problem. The biggest problem is we never got to see a friendly to know who start potentially.

The earlier someone plays the better is my thinking. The less time for unexpected things to happen. Thus Italian players are the best and turkish, but I think Italy will win then. Then Danish and Belgium players. Day 3 probably not bad either if you want English players, but day 4 or day 5 more risky.

I currently have Pepe in my team. Not sure he is worth it for last day, but I really think Portugal will get a clean sheet. He is the cheapest expected starter, but not fully nailed etc. Also not shy about getting cards. Him Torres or Bednarek will probably be the last player in my squad. Not really seeing big attacking things from those 3, but all decent clean sheet chances. Pepe probably the best in attack. At least for Real Madrid he loved scoring headers.

How to join? And how exactly captain works?
I've included the link in the op just click on that and it will give you the option to add yourself to the league.

The captaincy works by allowing people to change their captain once per match day so e.g you captain Insigne for Italy the first match on day 1 on Match day 1, if he blanks you can change your captaincy for day 2 and put it on Eriksen. This can continue until the last match day for that week.

We have 31 members so far. This is excellent!

Nice, thanks mate that's really helpful. I do have Pau Torres, so need to think about that. Wijndal looks great if he's a starter, with the Netherlands group.

I've tried to go for one big player each day at the minute to take advantage of the captaincy changes. Insigne, Lukaku, Kane, Gnabry. Just missing a Spanish player but sounds like that's not such a bad thing anyway.

As if Pepe is still going, he must be close to 40! I'm thinking cheap starting defenders is fine, rotate them around and hopefully get 3 with a cleansheet or a lucky attacking return.

Going to put some time into it tomorrow and check all the lineups.

Pau Torres started last friendly so I think he might start based on that. Although him and Laporte both left footed central defenders. Some managers like one right and one left.

Yeah Pepe is 38 years old. From my understanding he is expected to start. I might actually uppgrade to Cancelo or go with one Italian defender instead. Particular if we get one under 5.5.

Wow, this is great. As i understand you can sub player during matchday if he was bad. But can't move him back if sub fails too. Lottery

Bit off topic but is anyone playing the Fanteam Euros game? £20 buy in but £200k top prize and £1m guaranteed prize pot (and it looks like there’s going to be a BIG overlay at the moment)

If anyone is new to Fanteam but wants to play it, there’s an offer at the moment where you can get an extra team free if you sign up through someone's “refer a friend link” (and I get a free team as well ). This is my link if anyone’s interested-

www.fanteam.com/r/nirvana

That aside, any holes in my team? (Fanteam, I’m not playing the official one)...

Donnarumma
Bonucci Stones Maehle Hinteregger
Depay Wijnaldum Sabitzer
Kane (c) Lukaku Mbappe
(Dubravka, Malinovskyi, Calhanoglu, Barisic)

Ive also got a second team with Ronaldo (c) instead of Mbappe, where I can swap him for Mbappe in GW2

My understanding is that I can change my captain during matches on the same Gameday, is this correct?
Or is it only possible to change the captain between Gamedays?

A reminder to those playing there is also 2 chips you can use.

Wildcard - same as normal FPL you can change your entire team.

Limitless - A one off team that has no money limit so you can essentially have the most expensive team out there, but your team will revert back once the match day is complete.

For those not sure about captains here is the first set of fixtures for Matchday 1. https://gaming.uefa.com/en/uefaeuro2020fantasyfootball/matches

You can change your captain between fixtures.

I have been chopping and changing my team for matchgame 1 all week, will use the limitless chip in match game 2.. I still having trouble with my keeper, currently I have Krul, but not sure if he starts, so might switch to Backman who will start for Austria against North Macedonia. I don't really want to spend the extra .5 for Schmichel or Simon, because I like the rest of my team.

Spain's left back: Jordi Alba or Jose Gaya?
Trying to make a team for this has led me to believe that over half the teams in the tournament have no idea who their starting fullbacks are.

Lightbulb moment, that's why it's called limitless! Completely missed the no money limit, that changes things. I guess it makes most sense to use it in the group stages now.

I also have Bachmann, he's a solid keeper and you would assume there is a good chance for Austria to keep a clean sheet against North Macedonia.
My second keeper is Hradecky from finnland. He only costs 4m and is expected to be number one.
My plan is to put him between the sticks vs Denmark and hope for an unexpected clean sheet. If he fails, I will sub him off for Bachmann.

Yeh I quite like it because it's going to put a lot of people on all the expensive players. I'll be using mine MD2 because I think that's the best time when teams will have to go for it and there shouldn't be much rotation.

Torn between using it then or saving it for semis/final. Assuming only the big sides make it that far, you'd have to have a squad with plenty of deep lying midfielders etc to meet the budget without the limitless chip at that stage.

So do we think Portugal start with strongest 11 in this friendly? Silva as a 4.0 million keeper starts for them.

My guess is Patricio takes the spot, but the rest of the team look like first 11.

If anybody starts ahead of Patricio, surely it'd be Lopes from Lyon?

Can't see Silva getting a game in the tournament, he's making his debut in this friendly.

Yeah the rest of the team looks like first 11. I wanted to see if Pepe would start with Dias and I guess he will based on this.

Yeah, seems likely. Considered a punt on Pepe, but the chances of him fecking everything up with a red card are far too high for my tastes.

Yeah Pepe last man after 25 minutes. Gives away a pen by a tackle on last guy. Sent off. Thus -3 for red card and -1 for giving away a pen.
If anyone would do that for Portugal it is Pepe, but also he might score you a goal on a Bruno corner too.
