Can´t honestly say who I want to win. Miami looks the better team, but Raoul´s cockiness almost makes me want them to lose. ;)

It's played with a pig skin. And the ball is actually kicked with the 'foot' only about ten times in a game... Funny how the Americans think about that game as football!!! <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

What makes you think the University of Miami would employ actual students to play an epic match of gridiron football. Remember the old Notre Dame teeshirt--"Catholics versus Convicts." :)

This year's match-up reminds me of the 1987 Fiesta Bowl, where Penn State didn't have the defensive speed or offensive fire power to stay with Miami--but played mistake free football, cut off the long pass, stuffed the run, and managed to win 14-10. This year, one could substitute the Buckeyes for the Nittany Lions in almost all respects.

On a serious note, I´d fancy this Miami team to beat Bengals.

Was that a 77 yard pass intereference penalty, Raoul?

The interference on Gamble was a 10-15 yarder. They don't spot the ball at the point of the foul in college, they just give a regular penalty and first down.

I can only liste and I just saw 77 yards penalty on Miami during OSU´s 2nd scoring drive. The 3 turnovers are killer blows ...

Good luck for the second half ...

Actually Miami has less penalties than OSU.

After watching the first half, I agree with that. The only thing that will make the difference is if Miami can make the appropriate adjustments on offense at HT.

Well I have a particular interest in this game. 1) I live in Columbus Ohio and 2) I am a graduate of The Ohio State University. Two years ago I graduated and I cannot tell you enough good things about that school. It is the second largest campus in the country and I am so honored to be an alum, not only because of the win today, but what they have done to help me graduate when I had some problems in two subjects. That was one hell of a game done Tressel's way. Defense ruled and we showed the world that we could play on the stage with the big boys. :) :)
What a night it is! Only thing that will be great is if there are no riots tonight down on campus. :)

I really have to take my hat off to OSU. They came in with a great game plan and did all the right things to win the game. Miami made too many mistakes and in the end, it looked like OSU was destined to win this one, especially after the phantom interference call after the 1st OT. As a Miami fan, I'd forgotten what it was like to lose. We haven't lost a game since 2000, but at some point you have to lose to recharge your passion and humility for the game. I'm sure that my Canes will reload this spring and come back charging hard next year.

Good things to take away from the game.

Willis' injury will probably mean that he won't enter the NFL draft, which should create one of the best RB tandems in the history of the game in Gore/McGahee.

Kellen Winslow Jr. is a truly special player who will be a major star next year.

Our entire Linebacker and Secondary crews return next year.

Hopefully, we will be back on top next year. :D

You guys did a hell of a job. It was a great pleasure seeing our Buckeyes play Miami. Two classy organizations with two classy coaches. Congrats to you on your accomplishments.

1. that wasn't pass interference in OT1.

I agree on both counts. Apparently there is a petition to give Miami a few #1 votes to make it not unanimous, but I don't think its going to work.

McGahee´s injury is going to hurt his draft stock immensely. He´s damaged goods now, unless the injury isn´t as serious as everyone thinks ...

Willis has ligament damage, so no NFL draft for him. He'll have to rehab for most of this year and will probably be ready to play halfway through the season. We have the great Frank Gore waiting in the wings next year, so him and then Willis' return will be great.

It´s pretty amazing to see how easily the Canes replaced 5 or 6 first round draft choices.

Re: McGinnis

Few teams will want to take him early when he´s coming off a knee ligament injury at such a tender age. Even in 2004 ...

I want Winslow in 2004. The guy´s a stud.

We don't know the extent of the injury yet. It will definitely require surgery, though the ligament damage might now be as serious as they were first saying.

Winslow, like Shockey and Franks, will be a perennial pro bowler when he gets to the NFL. I sometimes think that he'll be even better than Shockey...though thats a tall order.

shockley is an ass...as for mcgahee, i heard it's a torn ACL...a devstating injury, but running backs have come back from such injuries before. it was horribly grotesque, i thought he had snapped his leg....

McGahee does have a torn ACL. Feel sorry for the kid as he might need his degree now. Good luck to him, he´s gonna need. Few teams are high on players with fecked knees in the draft.

the two off the top of my head that i can remember going down i similar circumstances was a RB from UCLA, deshaun foster, and one of the tennessee running backs (i'm not sure which one...jamal lewis?) both of whom ended up being drafted fairly high after making college comebacks. so there is hope for mcgahee...

McGahee to return to Miami, could miss time

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Associated Press

PHOENIX -- Willis McGahee's professional career will have to wait.

Miami's All-American running back tore three ligaments in his left knee against Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl and will have reconstructive surgery, assistant coach Don Soldinger said Saturday.

The injury means McGahee, a sophomore who was expected to turn pro and was widely projected to be the first running back taken in April's NFL draft, will return to Miami and try to recover in time for next season. It won't be easy.

He tore the anterior cruciate, posterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his knee early in the fourth quarter Friday night, Soldinger said. McGahee will have surgery Sunday, but rehabilitation could sideline him for all or part of next season.

Teammate Frank Gore tore two ligaments in his knee last March, began running five months later but still hasn't returned to full-contact practice. McGahee has nearly eight months before Miami's season opener at Louisiana Tech.

"He'll come back," Soldinger said. "He's that type of guy, a competitor, a hard-worker. I've seen it over and over again. If he stays positive and works hard -- he's down in the dumps right now -- he'll come back. He has an unbelievable work ethic combined with tremendous talent. You can't go wrong that way."

McGahee, a 6-foot-1, 224-pound Miami native, ran for a school-record 1,686 yards and 27 touchdowns this season and was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, the Doak Walker Award and the Walter Camp Player of the Year award.

Not bad for a guy who played fullback in the 2002 Rose Bowl and began spring practice behind Gore on the depth chart. He worked out every day this summer, sometimes pulling trucks with a harness, and became one of the strongest players on the team. It could help him during rehab.

McGahee injured his knee with 11:39 remaining in the fourth quarter, taking a screen pass from Ken Dorsey on third-and-10 from the Ohio State 35 and getting hit by Will Allen for a 2-yard loss. McGahee had to be helped from the field and was in severe pain for much of the night, coaches said.

"That's more tragic than losing the national title," offensive line coach Art Kehoe said. "That kid is so tough and meant so much to our team. To be so close to the end of the game. He was really starting to crank when he got hurt. Those things happen. He's got to be devastated. You just imagine what's going through his head."

McGahee carried eight times for 42 yards after halftime, including an impressive, 9-yard touchdown run that cut Ohio State's lead to 17-14 with about two minutes left in the third quarter, and finished with 20 carries for 67 yards.

Jarrett Payton ran eight times for 17 yards off the bench, but Miami really missed McGahee with the game on the line. Trailing 31-24 in the second overtime, the Hurricanes had first-and-goal at the 2. Payton ran for a yard, Dorsey threw incomplete and fullback Quadtrine Hill ran for no gain -- prompting Miami to throw on fourth down.

Dorsey got hit as he threw a fluttering pass that fell incomplete.

"I would have liked to have a healthy Willis McGahee on third-and-1 and fourth-and-1," Soldinger said. "I'd give it to him. You'd think he'd make it."

i take that back...fowler tore his posterior cruciate ligament, and was never, ever, even close to regaining his pace/explosiveness, and i haven't heard of anyone else doing likewise. add that to a torn ACL and MCL, and i feel horrible for young mr. mcgahee...i wish he could get some of the millions of dollars his school made off him this year.

That article is not full accurate. Gore has been fit and ready to go for some time now, including full contact on the scout team. It shouldn't be a problem even if Willis isn't back for next year, young Tyrone Moss will be ready to slide into the #2 slot. McGahee still has as many as three years of eligibility left, including a medical redshirt year.

Willis' injury is pretty bad. He's got damage in 3 ligaments but fortunately there is no nerve or arterial damage (which is what Robert Edwards had, and nearly forced an amputation).

luckily for mcgahee, he didn't tear the posterior cruciate ligament afterall...as for theismann, don't remind me. i saw a highlight of the injury once, and i'll never be able to get the image out of my head...
