They'll just put in a bid that funds the repayment for Barcelona. So instead of £56m, they'll put in a bid of £73m (£56m + £17m) if they are that desperate for the player. Its likely what Barcelona would have wanted United to do. Chelsea are one of the clubs crazy enough to do it.
I repeat. They need two defenders and a striker. They aren’t spending that much in one window. Also another attacker if they don’t get Raphinha.

They got a new sugar daddy willing to show intent. Not saying it will happen, but don't think we can rule it out, if their interest is genuine

Chelsea used to get their signings done quickly. If they are really interested and go sign him it will be done quickly. For us it will be like ripping of a band-aid fast instead of, if we dont sign him, this long and painful proces.

He’s not going to use his own money like Roman to fund deals. He’s American.

I'm not going to panic till there are UK sources on this.

Again, Ducker and Jackson seem fairly confident it will happen.

They have a new owner and no back room team like before. Sterling has taken them weeks.

That'd be gas if Chelsea get him. Their Midfield is already 100 times better than ours yet they keep strengthening it.

Meanwhile we got people still trying to convince themselves McTominay and Fred can "Do A Job".

He won’t go to Chelsea over us and Chelsea need two defenders. I don’t see it as a priority.
A Champions League club (and winners in 2021) based in London with a rich owner keen to plash cash in his first summer in charge? Yep, nothing to fear from them!

Seriously though, if the deferred wages issue with Barca cannot be resolved, it is hard to see that any buyers would be willing to effectively pay off De Jong's outstanding Barca salary with an increased transfer fee.

Couldn’t give a feck about Chelsea if Ten Hag has convinced De Jong to come.

I suspect that Chelsea aren't as keen on him as we are. But I reckon that they will try to drive up the price that we would ultimately have to pay to sign him- we are top 4 rivals with a limited budget after all.

Not to go all "we are fecking shite" (although we are), look at Chelsea's midfield options and they're still interested in FdJ. That's the difference. It's levels apart.

If they take Ronaldo off us at the same time, we are no longer top 4 contender. We are challenging for 6th at best.

Chelsea are the Paulo to our Ross

Seems we always waste months on these targets just for Paulo to get them with no fuss

Panic setting in aside, this is a rational view. At least until the british T1 guys verify the claim
I agree I think the timing is interesting.
Exactly. It’s coming from Spain too isn’t it which makes it even more suspicious at this stage?

Possibly. Chelsea are scattergun this summer though so you can’t rule it out.

I don't believe it, it's more Barca nonsense. They really are tragic.
Exactly. Bollocks do Chelsea want him, they've just brought back Gallagher and they're not just going to drop Jorginho or Kovacic for him. Would be a huge waste of money for them.

It would be interesting if the two best players to be managed by Ten Hag both moved clubs this summer and both ended up at Chelsea rather than United. I can't imagine Ten Hag would be too pleased to see De Jong and De Ligt linking up together elsewhere.

Hopefully it's just leaks from the Barca side to get United to pay up.

If Chelsea are in for him, I fully expect us to lose out to him.

If their interest is genuine, they will show us how a deal is done. Not 3 months. 3 days.

They have CL and that will be key.

"Used to" is the key word here, they have been after guys like Kounde for over a year now.

it's like folks are actively looking for someone or another club to end this so they can stop refreshing the thread. just take a break from the thread. you're not going to miss anything.
