Gennaro Gattuso's agent admits his charge is yet to make a decision on his future.

The Milan midfield general has always maintained his loyalty to The Rossoneri cause, but a number of sides are still gearing up to test the resolve of the Serie A giant.

Manchester United are thought to head the queue for the former Rangers ace, who must decide whether to stick with Milan - who avoided demotion to Serie B, but were deducted points meaning they will not be in Europe next term.

"I am going to sit down with Gennaro now in order to discuss the implications of all of this," his agent Andrea D'Amico told The Mail on Sunday.

"Only after this in-depth chat can we decide what will be best for his future."

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed he is keeping an eye on the situation Italy after Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina were relegated - and all three along with Milan were ruled out of European competition.

If it hasn't been posted already, we'll hear it is again...

Would love to see gattuso in a united shirt next season, completely destroying ballack when united play chelski.

 Here's hoping.

I have always thought he's a headless cock. But after seeing him in the World Cup, i have to change my opinion of him.

Rino ponders Man Utd move

RINO GATTUSO was locked in talks with his agent last night over a “dream” Manchester United move.

His AC Milan club have been thrown out of the Champions League and docked 15 points in Italy’s match-fixing scandal.

And the World Cup-winning midfielder, 28, is well aware Alex Ferguson may make an offer for him.

Agent, Alessandro D’Amico, said: “We must think carefully about the situation and, over the next few days, decide the next step.”

Gattuso added: “It has always been my dream to play for United.”

How good is he? I never really rated him, but since he won the WC, he cant be that bad. IMO he's too limited, even for a DM. He might be a fighter and a tough guy, but he does not offer anything going forward and dont think his passing is exceptionel (to start attacks etc as Keane did)

As Milan is in trouble, we can probably get him for much less (unlike the overpriced Mascheranos and Diarras and Carricks) to get othe targets as well

In the world cup, he showed his class. Ballack was scared shitless of him the semis.
Hope we do get him, we need a player like him.

At the WC, he showed he can play a more comprehensive CM role than he does for Milan. IMO, he would be perfect for us now - as is Vieira.

Milan probably don't need to sell him as they've already sold Shevchenko for £30m and rid themselves of their highest paid star. And they should be able to qualify for at least the CL qualifiers in the 07/08 season, despite the 15 points deduction. They will take a hit of £40-£60m (my best guess) in revenue this coming season which they can cushion with Sheva's sale and bounce back next season - provided they make CL in 07/08. Anything less, and there will be serious & longer term consequences. To do that, they really have to keep all their stars together and keep them driven to at least match their 05/06 showing. So, I think they will resist any offers and transfer request for the likes of Gattuso, Pirlo, Kaka, Nesta, etc. In fact, they may be even looking to pick up bargains from Juve (Buffon esp), Lazio & Fiorentina.

he's so similar to keane in the final third of his carrer, i'll take that for 2 seasons with a passer in beside him, carrick(if..) or scholes.

I have a feeling Milan might just let Gattuso go, holding on to Pirlo and Kaka. Financially speaking, the hit of 40 - 60 million is a big one for ANY club. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part. Would love to see Gattuso at OT next season

gattuso may well go cos he's just about too old and milan might want the cash, be good for us short term, but not in the next 5 years. rather pirloanyhow, but a player like gattuso is the first priority, i agree

Age-wise, Pirlo and Gattuso are only 8 months apart.

yeah, but pirlo was the best player at the world cup, a spoiler like gattuso needs to do more work than a playmaker like pirlo, he'd run out of steam after a while...

Gattuso has a great engine, has always spoken well about United and is a FABULOUS passer of the ball - he's not just a spoiler.

As close to Keano as anyone around.

Gattuso and Carrick would be the perfect tonic for our midfield. Add in a fit Scholes and we may well have a decent season.

If these signings dont materialise then get ready for another fustrating season :(

How about young jones as a passer....he did well last season on loan....and he is in the senior squad this season.......from what ive seen and heard, he looks and sounds very promising....

yeah, if he's a strong lad, he might be an option, but not if he's gonna get bullied off the ball. don't know the player, was he in holland last season?
