I got an occulus quest 2 a couple of years ago and, after playing a handful of games and writing an app for it, let it just gather dust.
Until last week when I saw someone playing Pianovision.


It basically makes your own keyboard/piano into a rock band/guitar hero game, so you learn to play via a game. Since then I have played the piano for about 30mins-1 hour every day. I've gone from being shite at piano to still being shite at piano, but now I can play three blind mice and a bunch of entry level songs. It even tracks you're using the correct finger, which you can leave enabled if you're a nerd. Seemingly it works much better with the Quest 3 too, but I can't be fecked buying one just yet.

Anyway, it got me wondering - anyone else recommend any apps for Occulus/VR in general?
Anyone learned the piano from either Magic Keys or Pianovision?
Is the Quest 3 worth the upgrade?
What's the best site for VR boobies?

Quest 3 has full colour passthrough, which is...erm, excellent if you like your VR "games" to be realistic.

Every time I’ve played VR (including own original PSVR and Quest 2) I’ve been absolutely fascinated with it. Resident Evil 7 in VR was one of the most incredible and terrifying things I’ve ever experienced.

The only game I played with any frequency is ping pong, and that's just because it really feels like table tennis. The physics are spot on. You can improve your table tennis by playing the VR game. I'm amazed they got it so right.

Apart from that, used the VR Fitness app for about 3 months and that was decent enough and now have been using pianovision, which is so rewarding - I'm so curious would it lead to knowing anything though. None of the songs are being committed to memory, only muscle memory... will be a great tool for some people practising though.

I wonder will the game produce a great child pianist who can only play in a VR world, with prompts flying at their piano in 3D

Perhaps not VR as such, but I've been very impressed with the Tobii Eye Tracker.

I play a lot of sim games like Star Citizen, MS flight simulator and DCS, and honestly this little gizmo has blown me away. Being able to naturally look around a cockpit on an aircraft by tracking my eye movements felt like a massive game changer.

I don't feel fatigued after an hour or so like I am when I have a VR headset glued to my eyes.

Pretty addicted to Synth Riders right now … especially a bit stoned. Lost myself for hours yesterday and probably about 3 stone in weight too. Excellent stuff.

Half Life Alyx can be played on the Oculus 2 and it's amazing.

I love the device even for just tours of the solar system.

Anyone got a good list of cross play games between psvr2 and meta quest?

Getting the kids quests for Xmas, but I fancy the psvr2. Would be nice to play some games with them, already seen walkabout minigolf is cross play. Hoping some other decent games are which will appeal to an 11 year old girl and a 13 year old boy.

Just got the Quest 3 as my first VR set. Holy cow, it's fun but I can only do it for 30 minutes to an hour at a time which is good since the battery life isn't that good.
So far, I am digging the table tennis game until my golf club attachment comes for golf plus. Also like the travel stuff as well.
I was worried it would be something that I thought was cool at first then wouldn't use it after a month, but I can see myself sticking with it for a long time. The plank game is a great intro into how the VR experience can "feel".

Got the kids the quests for Christmas and gave them a go, quite impressed tbh. I've been close to pulling the trigger on VR for myself a few times but never managed to convince myself.

I'm pretty close now, quest 3 and a couple golf games seems the best choice for me, seems the quest has a massive games library too compared to psvr2.

Really fancied a psvr2, horizon, gt7 would be great, but the support game wise just doesn't seem to be there at all, already looks like Sony are close to binning it off looking at the "announcements" ... About 7 games for 2024.

Think the quest are taking VR much more seriously than Sony.

I got my golf club attachment for the Quest 3 for Golf+ and it is fantastic. I am now spending more money than I should but getting a chance to play Golf+ on recognizable courses like St. Andrews, Sawgrass, Pebble Beach, and Scottsdale are too much to pass up. For me, the Quest 3 is worth it, just for this, but having family and friend's geek out over the plank game and other stuff (movies, youtube videos etc..) is just an added bonus. Showing my 78-year-old mom her old house on Wander was amazing (she got to virtually walk around her old neighborhood). I know it's only google street view but it's so immersive in VR.
This definitely won't be for everyone, but the tech and games are now to a point where my nerdy self will spend hundreds of hours using it.

Can also vouch for Golf+. I don't have the golf club attachment but I don't feel like it's required. The Cricket game is brilliant too.

The Mixed Reality was my main reason for buying it though. The fact I can turn the environment I'm in into the actual level is properly mind blowing.

That game with the attachment looks proper ace, some of the reviews even say it's fairly good for replicating real golf, people with slices slice it on the game. That kind of thing.

VR could be absolutely amazing for golf if it's done right

Still on Thrill of the Fight on Quest 2 - they've upgraded the graphics a bit via an update. I have some 'lean' months here and there, but that's mostly my schedule rather than the game.

Is there anything new that can rival it on Quest 3? Especially if I'm looking for something with active combat

Had to buy VR gloves as I kept smacking the wall and injuring my knuckles when trying to land an over hand left

The one thing where it falls short (and this is with just the remote as well) is putting strength. It's consistent but a small swing of the putter will hit the ball 80 yards. You need to really finesse the putting stroke to figure out the distance. I may go into the settings to see if I can edit that so it's more natural. For the normal clubs, I have to go 2 clubs up (meaning if the distance says 7 iron, I use a 5 iron or I will end up short, which is actually right for me since I don't have a strong swing).

Just looked and the game was on sale for £14.99 so I picked it up will have a go tomorrow and glued to the darts tonight.

Just tried the practice tutorial. Need to pay attention to the setup area was too far to the ball and had to stretch. Meant I was drawing everything. It looks like a load of fun though.

Anyone still playing Thrill of the Fight? Matty and Money Maker are ridiculous on the Outclassed level in terms of power. You could be utterly pounding them and from nowhere one punch wipes you out cold. Must be what it's felt like for Deontay Wilder opponents!
