I have been hearing a lot about the players not being good enough. How player XYZ will be better than what we already have. X might be but Y and Z might not be. Must admit my judgement is mostly misguided on such issues.
Trying to examine our most recent signings, it’s noticeable not everyone of them hits the ground running but does it mean poor scouting, not good enough or just not the player the manager wanted.
It can be any of those but I’d like to examine 20/21 signings here.
Telles
Van De Beek
Amad
Pellistri
Cavani
Oops! That’s a beautiful bunch if you ask me.Yet none of these guys is a Key player. Who do we blame?
The arguments we hearing are poor scouting, poor management or genius Ed. What about crediting players for stepping up their game. Maybe we should be examining the players they are in direct competition with.
Telles-Shaw came in as one of the better LBs in the world, seemingly the type we’ve been crying out for and he hasn’t let us down but Shaw is reacted to it in an unbelievable way.
VDB-Bruno/Pogba every time I watch him play I can’t shake the feeling we have some special in our hands. Then again how is Ole expected to drop those for him even my Nan won’t go down that lane. I don’t buy into the not an Ole signing, had this been City or Liverpool people would be crowing how brilliant a player we have on the bench ready to come on and effect the game. If he is a board signing, glad they made the call.
Amad&Pellistri-Greenwood&James
All players for the future, James we’re expecting to be already turning up and in big games what more can we ask for. Glimpses of what we’ve seen from the arrivals we have gems in our hands but it can be said Greenwood and James have shown they are no mugs.
Cavani-Martial this one fascinates me. Two very different players in my opinion. Cavani fits the bill in every way possible but Martial is just not bending over to let him have it his way. I know his form in front of goal is iffy this season but he sure making himself the man for the big games.
It should be credit to the players and not apportioning blames around. It’s a good place be for any club because we are seeing our scouting or coaches(Hah or Ed) weren’t far of in these signings. No issues with the ABUs but majority of the players they sign tend to show glimpses of their true ability after half a season and develop into starters second season. Guess what ? No one bats a lid but call it great scouting/coaching. There will always be exceptions in a few areas needing improvement but gotta start appreciating we already have some brilliant players and these signings are not fails.
