They also got bailed out last season by their very convenient covid break (Klopp complained about it and Pep got all defensive) which essentially gave them a 2 week rest. They were terrible prior and then came back and just blitzed the league. They still would have won anyway given how bad we were once we were top but he’s the last one who should complain. Covid favours him the most.

The solution to the fixture pile up is simple but no one in decision making seats wants to hear it because it means less money. Scrap the league cup (no other country has it) and have national teams streamline qualification tournaments. San Marino etc. shouldn’t even be in the qualies, sad and unfair for them but it’s true. Less games = better quality of games as well.
I think this is indicative of a wider problem in football which is the super inflation of player wages and transfer fees. Football needs some sort of financial reform before it can solve some of these other issues.

You need to remember that cnut can be good or bad where I'm from. I'm guessing you meant the former x
Guardiola is right, there's too many matches as it is and players risk burnout. Just because they get paid a feckton doesn't mean their mental health and welfare is not affected.
Awwww, bless them. Perhaps if they had to do a double shift on a Covid ward they may have a point. Guardiola has been here for some years as has Klopp. They know what happens at Christmas fixture wise and it usually favours City. Covid has affected everyone. What about the mental health of the millions that watch the games over Christmas and don’t get paid £100k pw? The players are looked after like top Racehorses, they want for nothing. If Guardiola can’t manage the fixtures with his squad, then he doesn’t deserve his salary.

Not sure why you're quoting me but we shouldn't be basing who should get mental health support by comparing it to the of the worst working environments in the country. It would be like telling a homeless person to stop complaining because kids in war torn countries can't even sleep outside for fear of being shot.

It's not like he had to chuck an 18 year old in. He had plenty of talent in the forward positions. If those players can't get a goal from open play against an average Villa then the manager has bigger problems than no Lukaku.

Comes across as excuse making to me.

Regardless of the squad he’s got he’s absolutely right for the sake of the sport. I’d like them to go further and protest against a proposed world
Cup every 2 years as well

Bernardo Silva played 7 full 90 minute games plus one 45 minute game in December. De Bruyne is on pretty similar number of minutes in december. Cancelo played 7 times 90 minutes game in december. They all start again tonight against League two side.

Gundogan, Cancelo, Rodri etc. also all played over 6 full games in just less than month period and are all starting tonight too.

He is an absolute joker, it’s actually hard to believe he can be so cynical and transparent. If it really were the players he cares about, what is he doing?

Get rid of the shitty league cup and reduce the PL to 18 teams. This would solve a lot of the issue. Man Utd and Liverpool had this idea and they were right but it's like getting Turkey's to vote for Xmas.
