Given the political turmoil in Haiti already and lack of recovery from the earthquake a decade ago, this will be further devastation for a long-suffering country.

You joke about this but with the growing climate crisis, we’re going to be stuck with these kind of Sophie’s Choices. Things like the rising sea levels etc are going to see mass, permanent emigration as huge swathes of costal / low level areas become uninhabitable and it’ll be on countries like the US and over countries with huge areas of ‘spare’ land to house them.
