That may or may not be significant. I would say it is not significant, and that Chelsea would have won both years playing 4-4-2.

Well significantly we were the last team to win it playing a tradtional 4-4-2 in 2000, considering Arsenal never had any traditional wingers in (Pires, Wiltord, Freddie) and last time we one it we played 1 up front!!

Arsenal played 4-4-2 - Ljungberg and Pires played as tucked in wingers - in exactly the same way as Beckham and Giggs for us.

Hoeness, how about You think about Owen as a human person, not the f***ing team's thing anymore, huh ?

He played in Bayern from early age of 17 as I'm concerned... Why you destroying his carrer in the age of 25 with broken leg with such a lousy, stuborn statements...

Are you trying to get revenge for 1999 Champions Leauge Final... ?

I can't take it... This Hargreaves saga is just pissing me off, sorry...

What do you reckon to Hleb so far?
I love Hleb. He's last player you should introduce to the PL in 2006 and reminds me of the spindly legged George Eastham. He dribbles too much, overpasses, doesn't get stuck in but when he, Fab & Rosicky get going they pass the arse off anybody - we may not win the league but it will be fun watching us try.

Hargreaves, Scholes, Carrick would be a very strong centre, especially in the tight games against top teams, with Rooney and Ronaldo swapping over, and Saha up front.

Bayern Munich would want either John O'Shea or Wes Brown in part-exchange for any Manchester United move for Owen Hargreaves. (Sunday Mirror)

Brown is an excellent defender on his day so let them take Sheasy, if this bollocks is true...

If it's true, I'd keep Brown and let them have O'Shea. O'Shea has a lot of versatility, but if the midfield depth is sorted out there's no need for him in the side. We have more than enough leftbacks, and we have youngsters waiting for their chances in other defensive positions. Brown is the third best centreback at the club, and deserves to stay. O'Shea IMO has lost that hunger in him, and seems too complacent.
But if we could tempt Bayern into taking Silvestre instead, I'd keep the former two.

I don't want to give them Wes Brown because he's a good backup on both RB and CB.
And O'Shea can play on every place in defence and in central of midfield. He's also a good squadplayer.

So, f*ck off Bayern! Maybe we buy Hargreaves and they can have Silvestre because we already have Evra and Heinze on LB. But I doubt Bayern want Silvestre ;)

Agreed...4-4-2 is the way to go. Against tougher midfields, we simply just have to sacrifice Carrick and swap him for Hargreaves.

Fergie seems desperate to get Hargreaves, If he come how do you think we will play then in the big games?
Keep 4-4-2 and drop Carrick or 4-3-3 and drop maybe Giggs or Saha? Doubt that.

Significantly that was the last two seasons.
And equally significantly the stubborn adherence to this sytsem has cost English sides in the CL...

When Liverpool won it was 4-2-3-1

We'd lose width, but how often has SA sacraficed width to play Fletcher wide.

Considering the time and expense in aquiring Carrick and Hargreaves I'd expect them to play, and an in-form Scholes can't be left out.

I suppose if we're determined to play 4-4-2, we could alternate Carrick with Hargreaves depending on what was needed.

One thing's certain if we got Hargreaves we'd never see O'Shea in midfield again and this is a good thing.

With leagues, the team with the best players available over the season nearly always wins the league, unless they play a really spastic way.

With cups, it's different and more match-to-match. Often the best tactic is to make sure you don't lose - United are not that great at that.
