How about Laurent Blanc?

Former United player. Probably not as disliked as Mou by some of the directors. Has experience managing a big club (relatively) with big personalities.

How does the Cafe feel about this possible appointment?

This, of course, is dependent on if Mou goes to PSG.

Rubbish manager. Too soft on his players.

No experience in a competitive environment. Won a one-team league and failed in the wider world. No more qualified to manage Utd than Giggs.

He won the title with Bordeaux before he went to PSG.

But no thanks. Would be ridiculous to hire Blanc over Mourinho and would suggest the board have lost their minds

What are his strengths?
A United manager should have at least few of the following:

Attacking / entertaining football or a successfully playing style
Good man management and motivation skills
Winning mentality
Progress with youth
Good tactician
Good in the transfer market

I'm one of the few to still not be keen on Mourinho, but i'd rather have him than Blanc by a wide margin. I would even prefer Giggs as a matter of fact.

Hiring Blanc when Mourinho is available would be madness really.

A typical SAF former player level of manager.

If we don't get Mourinho, then the options for a good managers are very limited. I would take him as manager of United, heck I would take anyone over the fool that we have now.

Being a former player should never be a factor when hiring a manager. As for Blanc, he needs to win the CL with that bloated PSG side before he receives consideration for the United job.

Has he teached his players yet to come off when he wants them substituted?

Just imagine the Sun headlines:

Blanc's Fired
Blancs a Million
What a Blancer
Blanc Manager
Blanc the Manc sank after drawing Blanc
Blinc Blanc Blonc Top Kop Flop Klopp for the Chop

Etc

I like him. Not sure what his man management is like, but having watched PSG, it's obvious that he likes to play nice, attractive, attacking football. He also likes to play a 433, which at the moment, I feel suits our current squad.

I'd like him as much as Mourinho. Either will do

My dislike for Mourinho makes me say yes. But Poch is still the dream!

I'd prefer not repeating the past 3 years. Why are people constantly looking for some kind of clever option when the obvious options (or option, now) are obvious for a reason?

Aurier called him a faggot, and somehow got back into the team. Don't think he's the man for United. Too weak.

Didn't we have this discussion back in December. What's changed now? Those that don't want Mou, might either be keen on him or Poch. But when you have a world class manager available, despite all his flaws, why go for someone else!

There's a massive difference between Pochettino and Blanc

I have my doubts, since he doesn't want to be a manager. But I find it amusing how managers turn to shit in a matter of weeks in the football fans eyes.

I am not really taking any sides here. I am just saying I have seen posters who were anti-Mou preferring Blanc or Poch. And to be fair to Blanc, prior to that Aurier incident, there were a few more supporters for him. But now especially after the City defeat, I doubt there will be any backers.

Same happens to players as well.

I like Blanc, wouldn't mind if he was appointed. The Mourinho to PSG rumours sound like bullshit though, doubt Blanc will leave.

It's a little bit ridiculous, he made a mistake during the second leg, he had to play without his midfield and made a bad mistake but it happened to pretty much all the managers. And his team should have won the first leg, if his players didn't made mistakes that they generally don't do.

Yeah, agree. Pep didn't get this much heat when he thought man marking each of MSN was a good idea last season. Just shows you the weight/value these names carry.

He would be a huge 'meh'. He did well at Bordeaux, but hasn't really shown anything special at PSG, imo. If anything, going to PSG has shown his limits (tactical and squad management).

I like him, and I'm not sure why people think he's a bad or average manager. There are a few managers I'd have over him though like Mourinho, Pochettino or maybe Simeone.

I am pro Maureen but I wouldn't mind Poch. However Blanc is just an upgrade over Gaz and Giggs
