How would you get us to score our first corner of the season?

Just give Telles permission to shoot direct from the corner, keeper might fumble one.

It’s hilarious that a professional football player earning millions cannot put in a cross to the right person.

Just shoot then. Probably better odds.

At this point us getting a corner is more likely to end up with a goal against than for. Can we not just turn the corner down and take a throw in by the corner flag instead?

truly embarrasing reflection of our players how poor we are attacking corners and how poor we are defending them

Have Bruno in the box, not taking the penalty.

pogba near post, maguire top of the box.

maguire is way more dangerous when he’s charging onto the corner.

mcTominay on the top of the box

ronaldo in the center

Just take short corners and keep the ball. It's clear we can't score from them anyway, haven't been able to since Giggs started hitting the first man every corner he took.

The bus stop technique used by England in Russia 2018 is pretty hard to mark against - Ronnie, McT, Slabhead + Varane should make an inviting target for Bruno to hit.

Beating the first man would be a great start.

oh for near post flick on. I’m sure our full time set piece coach will give this idea some thought before the seasons out… won’t he?..
This. Whoever takes corners need plenty of practice or swapping

We could always hire a specialist set piece coach.

Failing that, curl it into somebodys head.

Failing that, just take it short ala Barca and cross it from deeper.

Get rid of that fitness model we brought in to transform them.
If our players cannot put the ball past the first defender, which seem to happen pretty much every single time, you can create all the tactics you want, it's not gonna work. I am not trying to defend the guy as our ineptitude to attack from corners is only half the problem, other half is us getting countered quite often from our own corner, which is on him.

We often beat the first man. Beating the first man is very rarely the issue. I'm not sure where that idea is coming from.

If I was brought into a company and tasked with improving the performance of a team and the same team started performing worse than they did before. I'd be sacked. If they performed in a manner that was so bad that it was on track to be the answer in a pub quiz, I'd be lucky to get another job.

You cross it half a meter higher than the opposition, then slabhead picks Ronnie up and throws him at it.
He either scores or breaks him and slabhead, which wouldn't be that bad at the moment.

I'd actually have less players in the box and away from the keeper. Make it so there is more room to run and attack the ball. Defenders can't grapple forwards because it would be more obvious. I'd have nobody in the 6 yard box at all and just have 3-4 tall players run from the edge of the box. Also, a few more players around the box would help pick up the 2nd balls and stop counter attacks.

I'm completely out of ideas. I feel a bit for this new "set pieces man" as it feels like no matter what we do we find a way to mess up and it's not easy to understand why we cannot do something as basic as cross a ball and land one of our heads on it. Clearly there is an art to it as some teams are extremely proficient and you wouldn't have a "specialist" staff member for nothing, but a certain amount is about the very simple fact of delivering a ball and competing as anybody that has defended a box knows.

The delivery can be poor, when it does go into the box very rarely do we reach it, when we do it is usually a tame Maguire header. Most of the team don't even seem to compete, it is ludicrous.

Try near post flicks. And then practice and practice until we get it right.

Have to say watching the Brentford game noticed yesterday for such s good player, Bruno corners are fairly awful. Would prefer him off them and sitting edge of the box for anything that breaks or the Becks, Scholes routine as something different.

We need to get the new analytics team on this. I've been thinking, we could put a team together, a surveyor, a statistician, a physics teacher and a meteorologist.

The surveyor could set out some theodolites and laser meters. The scientist could set up some light boxes and prisms to accurately set-up angles so they could be demonstrated and measured.

Once optimum positions are understood, the teams best striker of the the ball should be tasked with continuously practicing corners using a solid reflecting surface setup at the required angle to aim at.

Once the striker is up to skills with accuracy and precision, we replace the reflecting board with Maguire's forehead. As long as the weather's fine, the statistician will be able to demonstrate the gain in performance.

(leading to our first goal from a corner in a fairly long time)
