To be fair, his name isn’t ‘Ian’ - it’s Iancarlos, which is more apt of course.

Marvelous Nakamba is the GOAT of footy names, surely?

Theres a Uruguayan player called Kevin Dawson who plays for Penarol. I remember that from the Pellistri transfer saga.

Speaking of names, will never forget the Irish strike partnership at their last tournament. They started their first game with ‘Long - Cox’ up front.

Marvelous Nakamba is probably my favourite name in the league at the moment.

Dirk van Diving Board in the Darts. Obviously not spelt that way but it's close in pronunciation

Belgium defender Mark De Man is all time name winner. End of discussion.

I don’t think many of you understand this thread at all.

How about this one:

Kevin Oghenetega Tamaraebi Bakumo-Abraham (Tammy Abraham's real name).

Kevin. No wonder he goes by Tammy.
Jason Timiebi Ogheneobrucheme Bakumo-Abraham (Timmy Abraham, Tammy's brother).

Jason. No wonder he goes by Timmy.

DJ Buffonge has arguably the greatest name of any footballer that I've ever heard of (I just found out that he had left our youth system, so we're probably never going to see him in United shirt ever again :(). His full name is also quite impressive — Darren Raekwon McIntosh-Buffonge (where is the "J" coming from, I wonder).

Our very own Hannibal Mejbri also has a very cool-sounding name (and way more chances of featuring for the first team at some point).

This reminds me of a certain Rolihlahla Mandela, who went to school one day as usual and returned home as Nelson.

I think I’ve said this before but every time I read Tammy, I think his first name is Tamuel for a second. Like Donny Van de Beek, something in my brain tells me his first name is actual Doniel

They're not as cool as some of these but it's notable how many Dutch players, or probably Dutch people in general have first names that could easily be from elsewhere with more Dutch sounding (to me) last names. Don't know how that came to be culturally or linguistically. Maybe thses are considered Dutch in the Netherlands anyway and they just share them with other places?

Patrick Kluivert and son Justin
Robin Van Persie
Louis Van Gaal
Pierre Van Hooijdonk
Nathan Ake
Timothy Fosu-Mensah
Kevin Strootman
Georginio Wijnaldum
Ryan Babel
Steven Berghuis
Giovanni Van Bronckhorst

Loads of them. Then you get Ruud, Wim, Dirk, Arjen, Bas etc. that do sound more Dutch to me.
