If we procrastinate is there a danger that Pochettino could end up at City?

First of all,I really can’t see the City Board sacking Guardiola. But if Pep feels like he can’t get more out of this team, then I can see him walking away at the end of the season. And if Pochettino is still available next summer, then he would be an outstanding choice to take over at City.City could end up without another manager who can provide able leadership to the club for the next 4-5 seasons, and needless to say,we”ll be stuck in no mans land again.

So if results continue to be erratic this month, shouldn’t we just sack Ole and bring Pochettino in?After all, because of our procrastination and indecisiveness,we lost out on managers like Klopp and Guardiola in the past....Can we afford to repeat the same mistake again?

Maybe then we’d get Guardiola.

I see absolutely no reason why he’d have loyalty towards them. They have no passion and everything they’ve ever won means absolutely nothing

Replacing one of the best managers of the modern era with a much inferior manager would be in our best interest.

Pep wouldn't manage us. We are one of the worst run clubs in the world. Maybe the worst considering our resources.

You do realise there are plenty of other good managers about apart from Pochettino?

I’m a big fan of Pochettino but I don’t think he’s a de facto “do or die choice”, unlike some on here seem to think.

But I guess the fact that he’s immediately available weighs heavily in his favor. But surely Tuchel, Ten Haag, Nagelsmann (I cant say Rose personally because I don’t know a lot about him but he seems to be highly rated by everyone), are all good candidates as well, and with a bit of forward planning, could become available.

It would be a mistake to make a reactionary decision on the basis of what's going on at another club.

If results don't pick up Solskjaer will likely go anyway, but good decisions are rarely made in a state of panic. If Pochettino goes elsewhere in that time, there will still be other managers out there.

No, I don't care. Maybe when Pep goes, there will be another amazing talented manager we can miss out on

I personally think Poch would be wise to bide his time for a bit. There’s every chance the City, Madrid and Bayern jobs will all be vacant at some point between now and the summer, and waiting a little while won’t make United any less keen to hire him. He’ll probably take a few months out to recharge, and wait to see what his options are. United could offer him a huge deal tomorrow and he knows we’d still be offering the same terms in May, if not better.

Pep would either have to enamoured with managing United or so pissed off with City that he joins us out of spite.

We'll probably end up with Allegri after all is said and done.

It could happen. But does it worry me? No, Poch going elsewhere isn't the end of the world.

For all his positives, I don't see him ever being on the level of Pep or even Klopp, but maybe he'll prove me wrong in time, he's got it on his side of course.

Talk about wishful thinking. There's 0 chance he'd come, loyalty having very little to do with it.

For a manager like Klopp or Guardiola, there must be a clear project with a good pre-existing footballing structure, from the board to the scouting system. It ain't only about money and I can't see, for the life of me, Pep being accountable to Woodward.

Right. Exactly like Liverpool were before Klopp.

For all their woes, Liverpool had a better footballing structure (and a better plan) and actually owners who care about the club more the the Glazer do about United. Do you see Woodward relinquishing his "DoF" job?

IF Pep leaves City, I wouldn’t be worried about anything, irrespective of whoever replaces him. Pocchetino is a huge downgrade. The last thing I would start worrying about is an opposition manager who has won feck nothing in his entire career.

The worrying thing is if Pep continues with City for a few more years. Let us not get fooled by some of the underwhelming City performances this season. He is still one of the top two managers in world football at the moment, if not the best.

Yes, I am terrified. We need to hire Poch asap so he could fail here and we'd get rid of his cult as it's getting tiresome.

The stories about the owners and the running of the club was similar. Getting a manager in that changed their fortunes has resulted in less critisism. There will always be more of that when results aren't good.

They would replace arguably the greatest manager with an inferior one, also one that won jack shit in his career.
So no, it is no danger to us.

Why the feck does rhe caf think this Pochettino guy is some sort of managerial messiah?

I mean he had a better squad than us for the last 4 seasons and won absolutely nothing while playing decent(not exciting) football. Why the attraction?

Danger? Pep is on a different level to Pochettino. Pochettino flogs his players into the ground, although having 2 high quality lineups as City do would mitigate that to some extent. Hiring someone for fear someone else might get him is not the way forward. That's how we got Sanchez. Just get the person you think is best for the club and your own project.

If we want Poch, then we need to consider it and move quickly, although I think a break til summer will do him good. If we don't, doesn't matter.

Maybe if we procrastinate Sheffield United will win the league, Chris Wilder becomes available, Ole retires after winning the CL and we go from strength to strength.

Sacking Ole now and bringing in Pochettino - assuming he'd be will to - would be very expensive for United. You'd reportedly need to pay out £12.5m in contract termination money from Spurs that he and his coaching staff would have to give up if he signs for another Prem team this season. And then of course there's contract termination cost for Ole and his coaching staff.

All in all, it could cost around £25m ... plus you'd probably have to pay Pochettino a higher wage than Ole is getting.

I guess it's not that bad if you consider it as a very important transfer. That 12.5m clause is cheeky if correct, but I guess it's to avoid being tapped up then sabotaging. As much as I can see the direct and indirect benefits of getting someone different in now, I do think Poch probably needs the break to reset. I guess if they want him they'd have to have a verbal agreement in private til the end of the season.

Because it's City? Unless we hired Pep, which I don't see us doing, I don't see how that could be in our best interest at all. They are simply on a different stratosphere altogether right now if you haven't noticed.

Poch can't go anywhere in the Premiership until the summer or he will forfeit the 12.5 Million he was paid off. If we want him to replace Ole, we will have to wait.
