I stumbled across a Norwich-match earlier this season, and I was so impressed my one of their young, attacking players that I coud not stop watching them.

Jamed Maddison played as a 10 for them and was not the type of player I had expected to see in the Championship. He actually looked like the perfect 10. He has great abilities on the ball and a fantastic right foot. But more important is his intelligent movement and awareness of space on the last third. He also has excellent vision/overview of his surroundings. Reminds me a bit of Lampard, but I think he is faster and more dynamic.

At 21 one of the most exciting young talents in England. He also have something about him that I struggle to put words to. Some sort of swagger.

Looks way too good for Norwich and the Championship, and I have a feeling he will look even better in the PL. Some club will be very, very lucky to have him. I’m sure he will make it at the highest level.

Yeah he's a terrific player. Norwich fans are resigned to losing him next season though, in the same way they lost Pritchard in January. Think his cap is mid table in the PL

You're doing this wrong:

And I hadn't heard of him before today, and I'm still not sure after watching the video but he does seem to have some skill and is a free-kick specialist from what I can gather.

I’m not sure he is the flashy type that will win over people with a YT. He does have a great right foot and are skillfull, but what makes him excel is his movement and vision.

I think he is a player that could be underrated by a lot for awhile.

Liked the cut of his jib up at Aberdeen last year. Moved well with the ball and showed some tasty flashes of quality. Got mixed reports though from their fans though, but it’s hard to separate thar feedback from the Ferguson-bred deluded expectations lot or the Scottish disdain for any fancy dans floating inbetween the lines and not rolling their sleeves up on a baltic night away in Inverness.

I'll definitely keep more of an eye on him now that he's been brought to my attention, however he reminds me of James Morrison (The West Brom player) for some reason and its not just the first name.

Annoys me when posters say stuff like that. We don’t know, how can you know whether he’ll end up playing at a top 6 team or a bottom 6 team, or any other level for that matter?

Hehe, no pun intended, but yeah, because of his name and maybe even apperance it could almost sound like a "System 1"-bias, ref Kahneman.

Since my first post probably was a bit short I will try to follow up with a bit more information from the Championship:

- James Maddison has 12 goals and 6 assists. He has been involved in 18 of the 37 goals Norwich has scored in Championship. (He has played 32 out of 37 games for them.)
- 2,9 key passes every 90 min. The highest tally in the Championship. No player has more from open play either. Quite impressive playing for a poor side.
- Fouled every 4,1 every 90 min. No player has been fouled more often in the Championship. Jack Grealish is on the same tally, but has played far less (approx 1000 min).
- 2,6 successfull dribbles every 90 min. A success ratio for take-ons of 70 %. A good number in the Championship, not great. Adama Traore is on 10 every 90 min with a success ratio of 81 %. Eden Hazard is at 4,9 and 81 %. Pogba, our best dribbler, is at 2,8 and a success ratio of 77 %.
- A passing accuracy of 86,4 %. 6,4 % above Norwich total, despite being their most creative player and obviously playing with high risk.

It is decent numbers for a player at the age of 21. I'm really looking forward to see him at a bigger stage.

(I have excluded players with less than 1500 minutes.)

How many times have we seen promising players do brilliantly in the Championship, but fail to cut the Premier League?

Maddison looks promising, but I remain skeptical. No doubt one of the bottom ten PL teams or a newly promoted Championship team will buy him during the summer.

Was at the KC yesterday and yeah, he looked good. Good feet, always took up dangerous positions, and obviously he can finish.

Cracking game yesterday, 5 goals, 3 pens, and a hattrick......all by half time

Harry Wilson, Hull City (on loan from Liverpool) is another tidy young player to keep an eye on.

Notice he’s playing with Harrison Reed, who himself was dubbed the ‘new Paul Scholes’ when he was at Southampton.

Liked what I’ve seen of Maddison though, looks to have Eddie Howe written all over him to me. £15m to Bournemouth in the summer type of player.

I think there has been a few exceptions to this lately. Tarkowski and Woods both doing very well at Burnley. Also think Jota and Neves easily fit in a PL team.

Don't think the gap is as big as it used to be between the bottom half of the PL and the very best in the EFL.

We don't. But we form opinions of players. Surely thats the point of internet forums. My opinion, from what I've seen of him both on TV and live, is that hes a capable player, who doesn't quite possess the ability to play at the highest level. I could well be wrong.

Style wise he's very like griezmann although he's obviously playing at a lower level. Looks a talent. I'd like to see him in the premier league soon. You can get trapped in the championship if you don't move up when youre young. Look at Jamie vardy. Something like 28 when he got into the top flight.

Excellent name. He would constitute a great signing for a midtable PL team.

He’s more of a creative player than Greizmann, reminds of KDB in a more advanced position with his free kicks and creative passing, although I have only seen a few games. Definitely one to keep an eye on.

If we could get him for circa 15m or so he wouldn’t be a bad purchase imo.

For me he seems like someone a mid table team will sign and after a year or so one of the bigger clubs will be after him for silly money.

KdB or a modern Beckham would be my description aswell.

Probably the next Vardy? His movement is top notch
Bit of a weird comparison with Vardy?

We tied to sign him during the mid season window apparently but it never happened, an interesting prospect as there is definitely something that makes him stand out.

Dunno, something movement and the way he tries to take his shot on the box reminded me of Vardy.

Is this his breakout season?

Would love to see us (CPFC) go for Maddison in the summer if we stay up, just the kind of player we've been missing since we got promoted and it's why we are so reliant on wing play/Zaha. Will be a queue of clubs in for him I am sure.

Do you not recognise those traits in certain groups of Scottish and/or Aberdeen fans?
don't think many if any Aberdeen fans expect anything like the Fergie days again, many are too young to remember for a start.
As for the rolling up the sleeves on a cold night in Inverness, yes that should be expected of any player regardless.

Maddison was very well thought of in his time on loan by the fans, and rightly so.
He will be a good player but it still remains to be seen if he could perform week in week out in the EPL.

Gotta say, that video impresses me tbh. Technically sound, not afraid to take on players, and a decent cross on him. At 21 years old, with the right coaching, he can become a very good player.

He pretty much has everything you could reasonably expect from a number 10, he even has a high pass completion for a player of his type. If he can handle the step up in levels he could be an important player for a top side.

He’s got 12 goals this season which is a good return. However, looking at the video, he looks to me like a central midfielder in the making. Like a Luka Modric type. I could be completely off base and I don’t know his tackling/defensive ability but I wouldn’t be surprised to see an Everton or Spurs pick him up and develop him deeper.

14 goals in all comps. He does seem a Spurs, Everton signing mind.
