- Valencia isn't available for any of the 3 games in US.
- Not looking to sign any fullbacks
- Praised Dalot saying probably best young RB in europe
- Said he would get 2 more players.

Not sure whether he meant "I would get 2 more players" or he wants 2 more players.

So the briefing was true about being happy with the current fullbacks. Ashley Young is 33 years old and Valencia is 32 years old. We have two young full backs who also are not in their prime.

I think it is a risk for Mourinho, but Shaw has to step up. He will have no one but himself to blame to be honest, as getting left out to a 33 year old winger to play your role is embarrassing. I just hope Da lot steps up and not take 3 seasons to get used to things and all that adaptation crap that people always say.

On a side-note: why do I feel that he would like Willian as his first choice for a winger? Chelsea just rejected a £65m for a 29 year old from Barcelona, how much do you think Man utd would have to pay?

A CB of Maguire/Alderweireld and Bale, and I would be content.

The 2 new players is promising and its a real shame Dalot is injured especially with Valencia also being out.

He must be happy with Young and Shaw going into this season which is a bit of a surprise.

Not signing a left back is utterly negligent. With Valencia and Dalot injured, looks like we’ll be stuck with Darmian for another season.

Fantastic news.

So a RW and a CB. Not buying a LB will come back to hurt us,especially when players like Sandro and Telles are available
Aah well at least it looks like we aren't done in the market. Hopefully it will be some good signings, Toby and a proper RW please

It's been clear for a while we are after a CB and RW. Who and if we get them remains to be seen.

Valencia's injury isn't serious. He specifically says that they aren't risking Valencia more in this pre-season because Dalot is injured till September. Doesn't even mention Darmian.

We can sell players after Aug 9 right? So maybe we can keep hold of Darmian until Valencia recovers and sell him in late Aug or something

You'd think one of Maguire or Alderweireld, and Willian then? That's a good £130m there probably.

I wonder if Fosu-Mensah might get some games at right back for the rest of the US tour now, with Valencia and Dalot both unavailable and Jose seemingly thinking of Dalot as a right back. It's that or we keep Darmian.

If we do get another centre back, is that Rojo gone?

Hopefully we give TFM a couple of games in the US over Darmian

Personally I think it has all been agreed, the media right now has no clue but I think we are in discussions with the clubs.
If you ask me to guess, my bet would be on Willian and Alderweireld, because we have been linked with them for months now. I believe everything from Boetang to Maguire is a negotiation tactic, or I hope

Entire season depends in Dalot and Shaw stepping up, it seems.

We have a net spend of about 50 million now. If we sell Darmian for 10 and one of our CBs, we will have about 130 million left to spend from the usual 150 mill
And yes, I think it's going to be Rojo

Young at left back again. Sigh.

The guy is a loon. That's my hopes for the next season up in flames.

To be honest bit worried that we are going into a season with Young and Valencia as first choice fullbacks. But if it was a choice between LB or RW then i'm glad we are going for a winger, as it is and has been a glaring hole in the side for years now.

So either Darmian is gone and Young will play RB, or we are stuck with Darmian and he is stuck with us. This could be Lukes chance to show something. If he doesn't take the chance then that is down to him and he is just quite content to sit on his contract until next summer. Just such a shame Dalot is injured.

reminds me of the Ivanovic episode when it was clear they needed an upgrade at FB. cannot believe in 3 summers we haven't signed (looks like) an established FB. Maybe they are not vital to his tactics?

Watching that i think he was talking about right back when he said didn't need to strengthen further.

Should every other English left back be embarrassed then, after all they were all left out in favour of a 33 year old winger? Not just this but the left hand side of the pitch fell apart when the supposed proper left back was on in his place during the World Cup.

Maybe, just maybe, Young is just very good in the position and deserves another season due to us having more important areas to strengthen?

I think Jose has been told that he can only bring a LB in if Shaw is sold but the problem is that Shaw is going sit on his contract.

Jose obviously has deals in place for 1 or 2 players if he can offload Martial and Rojo.

Names such as Perisic, Willian, Rebic, Milinkovic-Savic, Kovacic, Vidal, Maguire, Boateng spring to mind and any one or two from that list would be Jose type signings.

Fwiw, I don’t think we’ll even go close to the title with our current full backs (possibly with the exception of Dalot, who I know nothing about) regardless of whether we sign another centre half and a forward.

Maguire and Willian confirmed then. Ignoring left full back issue is unforgivable.

Now, that sounds like a devious plan!

Why are people so sure that the RW is Willian? The links with Maguire started a week or so ago, before that he wasn't even close to being linked with us.

Curtains for Pexbo

Watching the way we play (lack of width, lack of quality crosses, few chances created), not having great crossers of the ball is seriously hindering our chance creation.
Had we got Perisic last season, he'd have been turned into a crossing machine. Lukaku, I'm sure, would've scored plenty of tap-ins.
We just need a consistent crosser and Lukaku (and dare I say, Fellaini), should take care of the rest.
Fullbacks are very important to our style of play.

Perhaps this is clutching at straws, but considering the interviewer asked him about whether he would want to sign another full-back considering Valencia is now injured, and that Mourinho in response said "no" because they'd already signed Dalot, "probably the best right-back at that age in Europe" it could well have been that his statement was only ruling out signing another right full-back.

If I were to prioritise two positions I'd say LB and RW.

Of course as apparently we have said Martial cannot go to Chelsea/Spurs, then Chelsea might dig their heals in with us over Willian.

I can't believe the only fullback signing we'll have made this summer will be Dalot.

If young was so good, you have to ask why Mourinho is looking for a new winger? Young does not have the capacity to run down the wings at every opportunity like top players in Europe.

Relying on ageing fullbacks is disgraceful, they should be squad players at this point in their careers.

Oh well, it's not like we can change his mind, so I hope;

- we go for Perisic, he's the ideal attacker that we need that is available
- I'd prefer Toby over Maguire, but I'd rather not deal with Levy - especially since Martial wants out.

Maybe, interviewer worded fullback when asking the question, he said no.

So not sure.
