It appears that Martin Ferguson scouted the wrong player!!!
Kleberson the right man
Manchester United have laughed off reports claiming they bought the wrong player when they landed Brazilian star Kleberson during the summer.
The 24-year-old midfielder cost United £7m from Athletico Paranaense - but rumours have spread that Sir Alex Ferguson's representative in South America spent his scouting missions watching the wrong man.
According to the claims United were supposedly looking for a player to replace David Beckham or Juan Sebastian Veron when they were recommended the World Cup winner.
Shortly after signing United's first Brazilian, Ferguson announced that they had landed "an adaptable player".
"He can play on the right and in the centre of midfield and I do believe he has played right full-back in the past," added the United manager.
As yet Ferguson has had little chance to put his theory to the test and disprove the doubters.
Kleberson has been out of action since dislocating his shoulder in only his second Premiership start on 31 August.
The Brazilian is now back in training and expected to be playing again next month.
Newcastle manager Sir Bobby Robson tried to sign Kleberson during last season's winter transfer window but the deal fell through.
