I think he's had a number of health issues. He had prostate cancer back in the 90s, and he was treated for lung cancer a couple of years ago. There's a heart attack and a stroke somewhere in his recent history as well. Whether covid was the last straw or just another part of his final illness I don't know. I'd guess he was pretty fragile.
Such a familiar part of the US news TV and the cable TV story, for so long. Time catches up with everyone. RIP.
