Didnt see a thread on this and thought it was worthy of one.

Lazio is being investigated for using players who were positive for Covid-19. The 'Gazzetta dello Sport' even says that "the farce in Lazio has been unmasked", with the club and three players even being accused of criminally spreading the epidemic.

Basically Immobile, Lucas Leiva and Strakosha were out of the Champions League encounter with Brugge, but then supposedly tested negative and went on to play against Torino (4-3 win), 3 days before the duel against Zenit for the Champions League returned to test positive.

On Friday, Lazio's doctor, Ivo Pulcini, announced that all the club's players had tested negative and would be available for the clash against Juventus this Sunday, but the tests by Immobile, Lucas Leiva and Strakosha were sent to a another laboratory and the result was positive again.

Now, if fraud is proven, Lazio can be fined, lose points in the championship or even be excluded from the competition.

To make it even worse, the club president, Claudio Lotito, was indignant at being deprived of players who are not contagious. «It's like a magic trick ... What's that about being positive? Is it contagious? But there are bacteria in the vaginas of women all over the world and that does not mean that they are pathogens, ”he argued in an interview with La Repubblica. “Our doctors evaluated Immobile and he has a better lung capacity than before, why can't he play against Juventus? There are differences in the interpretation of results and I asked the federation to centralize the tests, so that we have the same parameters for everyone », he added.

Substantial deduction of points and potential fine I imagine.

I'm sure comparing covid to vaginas will go down well too.

If the allegations are true, they've put the health of their opponents in danger, they should be fined at least 10 points if not more.

The governing bodies have to come down hard on anyone who jeopardises the safety of players and the competition during this time.

Totally agree with this. There will be jokes but it could be putting the lives of other peoples family members at risk, however small the risk.

It’s a disgrace if true and a point deduction should be the very minimum punishment.

Agreed.

Can't wait to see the POV of someone that comes along and argues against this though. There's always someone.

That quote from Lotito. How bizarre. Some stern punishment is definitely needed for this.

Punishment should be making them sign Andreas for lots of money

Can't imagine that'll be treated lightly, especially in a country that was ravaged by Covid in the early days.

Has to be a point deduction for that kind of shit.

They need money to sign Andreas. So qualifying for Champions league is important.

10 point deduction for the fraud and relegation for the quote from the president. What an asshole.

Thats some quote right there.

Was only a matter of time before some team somewhere started getting creative with test results for sporting(financial) reasons, Im surprised it took this long.

Fined a few points isn't harsh enough. The club should be disbanded and everyone involved should be thrown in jail.

They should get a big point deduction but the Guardia Di Finanza have a hold of it now so it could be much worse than that.

(Un)surprisingly it's not getting many headlines in Italy so far.

a) punish them for fielding ineligible players.. points + fine
b) punish them for knowingly putting a lot of people at risk. (a lot harsher fine than a)

both need to happen.

Deduct them points and force them to sign Jones, Rojo, Lingard in addition to making Andreas' deal permanent.

I for one don’t believe this could happen in the Italian league and Lazio no less!

That Vagina quote is unique to put it mildly.

They should have a minimum 10 point deduction and a fine, make an example of them, wilfully endangering others can’t be tolerated ffs.

I think we all misinterpreted what he said, he said that Juventus are a bunch of dirty fannies, and who could argue with that?

Link at the top is from gazzetta dello sport...

Not surprising if it turns out to be fraud. Lotito has been convinced he could whatever he wanted for years. The cnut

Can't take too many cases like this, before the politicians pull the plug on the current Serie A season and thus a lot of its clubs. Even the most cynical and greedy football body has to give them a very harsh punishment.

Is this genuine?

truly shocking if it is. Obviously Lazio didn’t pay everyone enough to keep it quiet. Who would have thought, Italian football and corruption are a marriage, and they keep coming back to each other.

the chances are clearly very small, but they have potentially risked someone’s life. Not sure there’s a big enough punishment for this.
