He's 16 years old and won't have any effect on the first team. Good for our youth policy though if it comes through.

I'm not sure that's what Barcelona need.
He has similar characteristics to FDJ.

Barcelona have to go back to the 4-3-3 with specialist players in their positions.

That’s not how academy scouting & signings work. He’s 17. It might take four or five years or even more before he’s ready, if he ever will be. Doubt Frenkie will be there that long. Plus you need more than one player per position anyway.

The player will do the pre-season with the first team, that's for sure. And depending on how he performs, he'll play more or less. As has happened with players like Gavi, Pedri, Yamal and etc.

I mean, he's a type of player for a double pivot like FDJ. And that type of player doesn't fit into Barcelona's or Xavi's visión.

Yet FDJ is a key man in Xavi’s midfield.

As talented as he is, I think the jump from being mostly used as a sub in Allsvenskan to playing regularly in LaLiga and UCL will take more than that.

There’s talk that we’re really interested in signing him as well, he’s been on two trials here with us (2019 and 2022) and he’s also a known Man Utd supporter.

He’s very highly rated here in Sweden and one of our top prospects together with Roony Bardghji (the guy who scored against us for FC Copenhagen), and quite easily one of the best I’ve seen on the ball at that age with my own eyes (coach for his city rivals here in Stockholm and we’ve played Brommapojkarna quite a few times before he went to Djurgården).

All in all, I hope that he comes!

Bit dodgy to say about a 17 year old but fair enough

Seems like all the noise is pointing towards Barca though?

Personally, it seems like the best move for him at this point would be to Frankfurt.

I agree, anyway the main topic was about his game characteristics.
Noah Darwich, U-17 world champion a few months ago and has yet to make his debut with the first team. It will depend on your progress.

Yet FDJ is a key man in Xavi’s midfield.
No doubt.

The problem here is that in order to fit FDJ you have to put a double pivot. And also with the left winger playing inside, and this means that Balde has the whole wing to himself. FDJ is a disaster on defensive duties.

Too many tactical changes to fit a player, and play with a system unknown to Xavi and Barcelona.

And why do I say for Barcelona? Because all academy football is played with a single pivot, and it is not logical to train for years and years in one way and when you go up to the first team to play in another.

They’re signing some good young talents. Vušković & Bergvall after Udogie and Sarr.
A model I hope we start to do more of here with INEOS. Our academy is very strong but we should coinstantly be looking to top it up with emerging young talents between 15-18 years old when they are there to be signed on the cheap. We did it effectively with Garnacho, Alvaro, and Kambwala and Mejbri to an extent, but Sarr, Vuskovic, Bergvall, and Kusi-Asare who also just joined Bayern, were known talents we should have been all over. Next one I hope we keep an eye on is Nypan at Rosenberg, who is very highly rated and expected to move soon.

If we nail this strategy, combined with picking up value players in the £30-60m category over the next couple seasons we should be in a good place and not have to spend £250m every year. Heck if we do it really well we may one day even be able to achieve a positive net spend in a window at some point.

Brexit means brexit. We can’t sign anyone under the age of 18 from abroad anymore.

Spurs bought Vuskovic at 15/16 so I think the players just stay at their clubs and move when they are 18 in some cases. I could be wrong though. Might be why Nypan hasn’t moved yet as he’s still 17 but has been heavily linked to prem teams for over a year.

Either way, the point is we should be shit hot on these top youngsters coming through that can be bought for <€15m at 18, rather than €60m+ at 21. Spurs have been doing it for a couple seasons and are already seeing the benefits with Udogie and Sarr being two of the best players in their positions in the league this year.

Hope, We Lose
Reminds me of a taller Isak Hansen at u18 level from the clips. Could be a really good player if he adapts to the tougher league and progress doesnt stall like with Hansen in the u21s

Yes, so effectively he won’t be able to join them until he’s 18. The luxury we had with the players you mentioned. But I agree, Spurs can’t compete for the best players so they have done some very good moves for younger players.

This guy looks a prospect but we already have Dan Gore who we have high hopes for, not to mention the like of Jack Fletcher and Fitzgerald also coming through.

I'd say we have 2, maybe 3 midfielders who really fit the midfield mould currently, In Mainoo and Bruno (who isn't even great at controlling games). Casemiro maybe, but he's off pace, like Eriksen.

United need more midfielders who can be swapped out without whole gameplans going out of the window. I think 2 16 year olds are not fixing that problem, hence new midfielders can be the answer. Maybe not just talented youngster but players who can do a job next season.

Begvall is would have been competing with Gore, the other 2 players I mentioned are for the long term.
I agreed with you on United needing at least one midfielder, not sure should it be as a replacement for Casamiro or Eriksen, both will be gone within the next 18 months.

Surely we should be looking to find a younger version of Casemiro. Even with him being at the end of his career and nowhere near the quality of his Madrid days, we have looked so much better with him in the team recently. The first half against Wolves and the majority of the game against the Hammers we had total control of the pitch and looked to swarm them. It would be great if we could keep that going, even against so called "big" teams.

Andre Trinidade didn’t leave Brazil in Jan and I think he would be a good option as a 6 / DLP. He is short though so we’d lose some height and physicality, but gain a tenacious, press resistant playmaker who can compliment / take some pressure off Mainoo.

If we were to sell Casemiro and McT, we could then bring in a more physical presence like Thuram to balance things out. Unlikely though!
