Luis Nani the prodigal son returns home. As a lifelong Sporting fan I am very excited by this I am curious as to how the other Sporting members in the CAF feel about this signing. He joins Sporting on a 2 year deal. I think he is a great signing for the club after the recent situations that have plagued the club to have a player from our academy return home will be big for our younger players and exciting for the fans he will offer the leadership needed and in the Portuguese league and in particular Sporting I have no doubt he will thrive. Nani has always been a player who performs better when he feels loved and appreciated and at Sporting he will get that unconditionally. Sporting are the right club for him and at 31 years old he still has a good amount of years left in him to perform at the highest level. He was great for us when he returned 3 years ago and I think he will be great now as well. Safe to say I am ecstatic! he will serve as a mentor for guys like Matheus Pereira as well which will be huge for his development. Thoughts?

Brilliant player, should never have beem sold.

We would have killed for a player as good as him on the wing the last 4 years.

Nothing but love for Nani, he was inconsistent at times but on his day he was unplayable. Scored someabsolute bangers too.

Sporting will be a great move for him. Hope he does well for you guys

So has the crisis gone?
One of the players and the player of the year in Portugal last year Bruno Fernandes has returned to the club while we are suing others such as Rui Patricio and wolves and demanding 54M also we have elections on September 8th to decide the new president. Our squad has been being formed from the players who stayed and the return of promising youngsters from their loan spells and now the signing of Nani among 3 others players bought within our league.

I think we are the right club for him to get back to his best football and to a stage where he will enjoy playing again and bring back the best version of Nani.

Will always remember that trick to get past two players against Arsenal away. Such a sublime player on his day.

Portugal missed him at this WC, such a pity that he could not maintain the momentum he had from Euro 16. Was very good in that tournament, maybe better than Ronaldo.

His best quality was always his belief in himself, even when he had bad days, he never stopped trying, would lose the ball but still go for a dribble or an incisive pass the next minute. Would not hide and play safe even on such days, that's one reason why he looked really bad when things didn't go his way.
Absolutely loved him, the kind of player we've severely missed in the last 4 seasons. When we sold him, he was the only two footed player in our squad who could beat a man or two from standstill positions with consistency.
Hope he does well and plays a part in the coming Euros for Portugal.

Thats exactly how I feel it made me happy. Also how do you feel about Bruno fernandes returning? If it’s true his salary is the same and their is no bonus involved is It a case of let bygones be bygones? What’s your take cause I’m sort of split in half. Because he unlike the ones who were raised in the academy cams back and I’m certain he had offers from clubs with a lot more money then sporting and that’s something to tip your hat too unlike the scum that is Patricio.

Ohhh lá vai o Nani, vai fazer o golo, vai dar o mortal, lá vai o nani... :D

Legend, great to see him back. He might not be great since he's barely played in the past few years but at least we're guaranteed some moments of magic.

He only has himself to blame, he could have achieved a higher level, I mean since he left United he just spends 1 season on different clubs, frustrating player, must be said he and Pepe were our better players on Euro 2016, and if we missed a player like Nani for this WC...

If we look into that spineless coward Guedes performances its a joke, he and Bernardo are owning Portugal after this shambolic WC. So yeah, welcome back Luis Carlos Nani, fair to say I don't have any emotional feelings regarding players coming from the Academy after this Summer, they are just a bunch of traitors.

You are just one more don't expect special treatment from me. Don't follow the steps of Patricio is the only thing I say to you.

Was surprised he wasn't at the World Cup. He was important in the 2016 Euros victory
So was I, but apparently he wasn't at his best over the past year or so which would explain the omission. They could've definitely done with the Nani of 2016.

He has been crap since he left us.
Thats simply not true. Since he left United he went on loan to Sporting where he scored 12 goals and got 10 assists then he went to fenerbache where he scored 8 and again assisted 10 then he had a fantastic Euro 2016 which made a move to Valencia possible where he scored 5 and assisted 7 for a relegation team Valencia. His only truly bad season has been last season where he went to Lazio which simply was not the club or league for him.

Nani has never done Sporting wrong and has come back 2x now I have nothing but respect from him one of the best players we have produced. I believe their are players who still love their club like in the past but just hard to come by or maybe im just delusional

I have brilliant memories of Nani.

I'd take a 23 year old Nani for our right wing this season without question

At his best, he was as a better dribbler than Ronaldo. But his best was way too infrequent.

It was probably the right decision to sell him at the time due to his inconsistency. But in hindsight we could've kept him since we never got someone who was a better replacement.

Best move for both parties. Will be more than enough for the portuguese league level.
