Malaysia in tough group in Man Utd Premier Cup World Finals

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia have been drawn in a tough group in the Manchester United Premier Cup (MUPC) World Finals, which kicked off Wednesday.

Represented by the Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJS) in the Under-15 tournament, their opponents in Group D are 1999 champions FC Barcelona, Chile's Colo Colo, Gamba Osaka and Hertha Berlin.

The four-day tournament in Manchester involves 20 teams.

The tournament was developed by Nike in 1993.

It was further expanded 10 years later when United added their name to an event designed to raise the level of international youth football and skills development.

Three first half goals knocked the life out of East Bengal's hopes for a miracle as Manchester United forced a 5-0 defeat down their throat in the lung-opener of under-15 Nike Manchester United Premier Cup (MUPC) at Carrington, Manchester.

The draw was not kind on the Indian side, neither was Manchester United on Wednesday.

The hosts pumped in three goals in the 20-minute first half and two more on the other side of the lemon break to complete a rout.

David starred in Manchester's win with a treble (17th , 28th, 38th minutes), while Nicholas (11th) and Rovy (20th) too joined the party.

The visitors had just one go at the Manchester United goal in the entire duration of the match and Subhas' feeble, ballooning shot from outside the penalty box was too innocuous to test the Manchester custodian.

Manchester captain Ryan struck a lethal combination with David and orchestrated moves that had the East Bengal defence in all sort of troubles. Nicholas' early attempt might have been off-target but was an inkling of things to come.

Cheers, Oskar. You never cease to amaze.
Thanks!
Although I must say that David Jones and Rossi not getting many chances in the first team and leaving, make me question if there will be any new first team players from the academy next five years or so.... but then again we must hope!

Gorman looked good
Did you see the game live or on MUTV?

proper clash of the mini-titans that one, especially when (with all due respect) you look at the other sides left in the competition.

That is almost a bit perverted. Who is that fella? He must be several years younger than the Roma lads?
