Quite a few ifs and buts and uncertainties about our squad for next season. Will Rooney, Nani, Rio, Fletcher, Anderson etc be around next season?

As it stands today, this is our squad 2013/14:

Goalies

De Gea
Lindegaard
Amos

Defenders

Rafael
Evra
Rio - will surely be given a new contract?
Vidic
Jones
Smalling
Evans
Fabio - coming back?
Buttner

Central mids

Carrick
Anderson - keep or ditch?
Cleverley
Powell
Fletcher - if he does recover, just a bonus

Wingers

Nani - signing/offered a new contract?
Valencia
Young
Giggs
Zaha

Attackers

van Persie
Welbeck
Hernandez
Rooney - will he stay or will he go now?
Kagawa

Wow, our central midfield really is woefully short when you see it like that in black and white.

Giggs is a midfielder now.

So it could be

Carrick
Anderson
Cleverely
Giggs
Powell
Fletcher

Hernandez - BFA

Right, so how many of those won't need to be included in the 25 man squad? Powell and Jones right?

So at the moment - we have 24 names.

I expect Amos* or Lindegaard^ to go out on loan*/sold^*.
Buttner/Fabio to go out on loan. We don't need 3 left backs.
I actually expect Anderson to stay now.
Fletcher is a doubt, sadly.
Nani, for some reason, I expect him to stay despite repeating myself over past few months that he'll be sold.
Rooney - who knows.

I don't see anyone being sold unless they want to go, to be honest. Wouldn't look great if Moyes came in and shafted Anderson before being given a chance.

Lemmy has forsaken us....
Kind of depressing if you think we almost have as many keepers as centre mids.

I'd expect Powell to go on loan, unless the U21's are still badly stuck for attackers. He could be kept about then.

How's that Keane lad recovering? He was meant to be getting first team games this season, if he's ok, will Moyes be interested in using him?

I don't see how a youth striker can expect games at United with the options we have. Will Keane will surely have to go on loan before he expects any game time here.

Goalies

De Gea
New Backup
Amos
Lindegaard - I think will leave for 1st Team games elsewhere.

Defenders - Happy With.

Rafael
Evra
Rio - Will have another year with us and will be managed. He's not going to go elsewhere in search of more games per season and he's perfect for us. Smalling, Jones and Evans another year older and Vidic will be managed too.
Vidic
Jones
Smalling
Evans
Fabio
Buttner - Loan

Central mids - Needs a serious over haul.

Carrick
Cleverley
New Midfielder 1
New Midfielder 2

Anderson - Sell him. Time to move on for both his and our sake.
Powell - Loan
Fletcher - I'd rather he retired now and left a spot open. Hargreaves Mk2 with added integrity.

Wingers - Probably enough numbers, just need to show their quality.

Nani - No idea. Maybe he'll feel a fresh start under Moyes is as good as a new club.
Valencia
Young
Zaha
Giggs

Attackers A new top class striker to replace Rooney and we are set.

van Persie
Welbeck
Hernandez
New Striker

Kagawa

Rooney - Gone.

Amidst squeaky bums.
You'd have to say the 'definites' to still be here are:
de Gea
Rafael, Evra, Jones, Evans, Smalling, Vidic, Fabio, Buttner
Valencia, Giggs, Carrick, Young, Cleverley, Powell, Kagawa, Zaha
Welbeck, van Persie

Then you've got:
Lindegaard, Amos (one to stay, one to leave or loan)
Ferdinand (I expect a new contract)
Anderson (up in the air), Nani (likewise), Fletcher (illness, who knows)
Rooney (up in the air), Hernandez (I expect a new contract)

Plus two or three new signings.

In short, Moyes need to:

- Make decisions on Rooney and Nani
- Decide whether to give Rio a new contract

The other issues (e.g. Anderson and Fabio) are part of his squad assesment he need to do.

We are fine in terms of goalies and defenders.

If both Rooney and Nani leaves, I feel we will be missing an x-factor and two match winners, even if we are fine in numbers in terms of attackers and wingers.

It actually seems more likely that Rooney will go than Anderson now. I think he deserves a year under Moyes. Imagine him with Everton levels of fitness.

HELLO
How you see the strength of our wingers hinges on if Valencia can get his form back. If we go into next season with no Nani and Valencia maintains his form from this season then we'll be in trouble.

Assuming Nani, Anderson are gone alongside with Scholes, Fletcher's still ill.

In an ideal world, 2 new CM's, 1 winger, and Zaha of course. Might sound harsh but if there's a quality left back available, I'd repace Evra this summer. Keep everything else the same.
