Fraizer Campbell looked okay tonight. He must have thought "I've got to" , after last night....Bardsley nearly scored a great long range goal........
Tom Heaton pulled off a top class save in the second half to stop Bolton going in front. The Bolton guy thought he'd scored only for Heaton to save it....:lol:
Hewson almost got on the end of a great cross off Keiran Lee near the end.

The score was probably a fair reflection of the game.

United came from behind to secure a hard-fought draw with reigning league champions Bolton Wanderers at the Victoria Stadium.

Febian Brandy's cross was turned into his own goal by defender Chris Stokes, just two minutes after Chris Basham's opener for the Trotters.

Brian McClair and Jim Ryan included three players who played in Wednesday night's Carling Cup defeat to Coventry - Phil Bardsley, Lee Martin and Fraizer Campbell - who each turned in a solid performance to massage any pride dented by their Old Trafford humbling.

Defender David Gray also completed 90 minutes in his first taste of action for eight months, having suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury earlier this year.

Bolton drew first blood when Leslie Thompson, who had earlier clipped the crossbar from close range, worked space on the right wing and pulled the ball back for Basham, who clinically drilled the ball in.

Two minutes later, however, United drew level in far less aesthetically pleasing circumstances. There was nothing wrong with the neat interplay between Campbell, Brandy and Sam Hewson which ended with Brandy bursting into the area.

The diminutive striker could only scuff his pull-back, however, and central defender Chris Stokes clumsily turned the dribbling effort over his own line.

There were few further clear-cut openings for either side in the first half, although Phil Bardsley saw a powerful long-range effort beaten away by the Trotters goalkeeper Bogdan and Basham planted a free header woefully wide in first-half injury-time.

Just 15 seconds of the second period had elapsed when Johann Smith found himself one-on-one with Tom Heaton, only to see his shot blocked by the goalkeeper's legs.

United flirted with taking the lead themselves after 74 minutes, but Campbell could only divert Sean Evans' drilled cross wide of the post, before Basham was denied by a phenomenal save from Heaton, who reacted brilliantly to turn away the midfielder's point-blank effort.

The game's end to end nature yielded two more half-chances in the game's dying embers, as Smith was denied a clear run on goal by James Chester's superb tackle, before Hewson narrowly failed to connect with Kieran Lee's fine cross.

Time ran out for both sides, however, and a point apiece was just about a fair reflection on the balance of play.
