I remember back in the 00-01 season. United were on the way to three titles in a row. We had Liverpool at old Trafford and the talk was all about how many united would win by.

United Lost 1-0 to a Danny Murphy goal after battering the twats over the 90 minutes.

Football rarely works how people expect in these big matches.

I got in a fist fight with my lpool supporting best mate that day. He just kept gloating.

If we lose today I’d struggle to see us anywhere near a title race or a top 4 spot. I’m hoping we scrape this 1-0. Stranger things have happened

Can we get some can-do attitude in this thread for once? You miserable lot.

We're gonna get smashed. Really hard. :(

A big part of Atalanta was them capitulating, I don't see Liverpool doing the same.

For the first time in a very long time under Ole, I don't see a turnaround or a good game happening.

I don't think Atalanta capitulated at all. I'm leaning more towards the players, furious at being 2-0 down at halftime to a side they knew were inferior in every sense of the word, decided to put on a show and turn the game around. Whether it was pride in themselves, playing for the manager or whatever, I don't know, but something lit a fire under their asses.

The question is, can they turn it on again this afternoon? I think yes. We'll get a result against Liverpool. I'm sure of it

Why? We’re not in a title race. We’ll be in the top 4 one, even without a manager with this group of players.

So we didn't play well. Atalanta capitulated?

Why in gods name did Atalanta capitulate then?

This will suit us today like against City last year at the Etihad.
We'll sit back and counter on them with pace.
We may still lose but it will be a closer match than a lot think.

I'm not optimistic, but these are the types of games Utd win. Coming off a bad run, manager under pressure and up against a big team?

We usually win those. So I am not counting it out :)

We've got results before when nobody believed we would

I really, really want United to win today,

The table they showed of Liverpool, Chelsea, City and us of goals conceded and clean sheets is pretty damning. And De Gea has been one of our best players. Need to sort it out.

We need to win not just for points and bragging rights over Liverpool fans, but bragging rights over the plastics who want us to lose today

Putting myself in their shoes, I know the core reason for wanting us to fail against Leicester or Atalanta although I categorically disagree and never would no matter the manager, but wanting us to lose today is simply embarrassing. I hope we win from a 90th minute handball given because the VAR screen malfunctioned!

    Neville taking the bait.

Sourness is right all the same

Neville made a bit of a plonker of himself there, didn’t he?

There‘s a really decent percentage of top footballers who played for great managers who would still be an absolute disaster anywhere near coaching. Funny that almost everyone who played for Fergie is like that, always wonder why that is…

The Nevilles, Scholes, Ince, Giggs: All terrible managers. Then there’s the likes of Ole, Bruce and Keane. Schmeichel: Always comes across as not having the first clue about football.

Not a criticism of Fergie, just that you’d think one or two of his ex players might make decent managers.

Fans who sit there and hope we lose matches are nothing but fake trash who can't take any type of opposition or struggle. They're weakminded, frail and no better than Liverpool fans. They may as well be Liverpool fans.

    Traitorous wankers.

I expect total Liverpool domination but we will be 'lucky' to lose by a goal.
    Man Utd 1:2 Liverpool
    Depressing times.

Absolutely true.... they can feck off and support Newcastle instead

Got a weird feeling Lingard might start. Couldn’t figure out how I’d get him in my prediction though.

I don't think Ole is the man to take us forward again, however have fully accepted he is going nowhere whilst we are in Champions League so may as well get behind him. Will admit I was a bit meh about the win on Weds but today is a very different feeling and could never want us to lose to that lot.

Yeah fair enough. For me, I’m a United fan so my job is to support the players and manager in every game, and praise or criticise after. Or at least that’s how I’ve been taught to do it as a younger fan.

    I honestly don't.

I understand wanting Ole out and I think that's reasonable, but Manchester United is more than just the coach.
It's the board job to understand that we probably already reached the ceiling of the best we can get with Ole and even if our playstyle/tactics seem amateur like most of the time, I still want us to win.

Souness might be making some valid points but that doesn't stop me wanting to knock that smarmy look of his and Carragher's faces BIG TIME

For some reason, even when we are shit, Klopp is always very cautious at OT. If we don't concede early, can easily see this being a drab 0-0.
Ole certainly won't go for it.

Understand is probably the wrong word so I’ll amend that, but putting myself in their shoes, I sort of see where they’re coming from albeit I categorically disagree with that point of view. That isn’t the job of the fan.

    Full of optimism today.
My lad's team won this morning after 4 straight defeats.
My daughter scored her first few goals in her game too.
I got my knob wet last night too.....
Ooooh, lucky man. We can't lose now

It depends which Maguire turns up. It's harsh to pin it all on him, but his individual mistakes in the last few games has cost us big time. If he builds on midweek with his goal and gets confidence from that then we'll be looking a bit more sturdy at the back. But it's important imo to start with high energy players like Lingard/Cavani. If we use the same tactics as we have done in previous weeks it won't end well. I'd play Cavani/Ronaldo upfront with Lingard. Then flood the midfield.

It won't end 0-0 though. I'll bet 5p on it!
