The fact it's come out of nowhere is sort of good news, and the fact he is a 6 which van gaal clearly wants. He would be my first choice currently too, shouldn't be too overpriced either considering they would rather not sell to Spurs (direct rival)

A midfield three with Morgan Schneiderlin, Ander Herrera and a Illkay Gundogan would be an excellent one.

Seems like French media is going full muppet on Sneijderlin to Manchester United.

GK
RB Hummels Otamendi Shaw
Sneijderlin
Mata Herrera
Di Maria Rooney Memphis

He'd be a top signing but not getting my hopes up. Could be a ploy to get Arsene to hurry up and seal the deal.

Schneiderlin would be another sensible signing just like Depay was.

My major gripe would be that I struggle to spell his name.

My hunch if this is true is that we've either:
  • Been turned down for Gundogan
  • Decided against signing Gundogan
  • Schneiderlin was always first choice and Gundogan backup
We wouldn't be signing both imo.

I think the emergence of Coquelin really helps us with this deal. I don't think Arsenal will push the boat for this one because of that factor.

Gundogan is a playmaker like Modric, Sneijderlin is more of a defensive midfielder. They play in 2 different roles.

he'd be pretty much my ideal Carrick replacement.

Still deciding
Does he have a good passing range and the calming influence that Carrick carries

Or...Arsenal are now getting Vidal, so now we turn to our back up? I know we haven't really been linked with Vidal, but I would expect us to go for him should he come available?

I really want this to be true. Ideal signing for the defensive midfield role, but could offer so much more.

We need a DM and number 8. Should buy both

Decent passing range but not carrick levels.
More on the ball than carrick, who can dictate from a fairly static position with his positioning and passing. Schneiderlin quite box-to-box too, will have to rein that in to replace carrick. His performance against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge did it for me though. That was proof he is ready for one of the top boys.

Would be a brilliant signing. He's exactly what we need, Gundogan isn't as he plays further forward.

Or, We'll get both, have Gundogan, and Herrera playing as advanced midfielders, while Schneiderlin plays the holding role.

And suddenly it makes sense. His name sounds like Sneijder-lin

I would love that transfer, the good thing with Canal+ is that they don't need the buzz, there is no reasons for them to invent something.

Possible aye. I'd be heart broken if that happened given my campaign last summer.

Not getting my hopes up but he ticks just about all the right boxes. Rather him than any of the other midfielders we've been linked with so far.

Me too, but if we got Schneiderlin and Gundogan, I would be more than happy.

----Schneiderlin
Herrera---Gundogan

Would be great, no?

I would imagine playing with Sanchez could be the biggest pull with Vidal to arsenal

He'd be great, not sure I agree with the 'Carrick replacement' comments though. Though I guess no one is going to bring exactly what Carrick does.

Yeah I too am thinking Vidal has agreed to go to Arsenal in the background with his best mate being the biggest hero there now. Perhaps their interest in Schneiderlin has cooled even they often play slightly different roles.

Either way Schneiderlin is exactly what we need and I'd be absolutely delighted if we get him. A quality signing.

This certainly sounds interesting! How would you guys describe him? I don't think I've seen him play than against us.

Be nice to have him behind a midfield duo of Ander and DiMaria.

It would make a lot of sense. It's been surprising we've not been linked with him more. Even if there's no truth in it I would have thought the media would put 2 and 2 together and write some fact-less stories.

LVG and Woody specialise in signings coming out of nothing, so I wonder if this is the next one...

Him, Gundogan and Herrera in midfield would be amazing. Make it happen.
