Is this a spin off of the game show idea thread?

(For anyone else wondering I googled it and apparently it's billiard)

It would just be nice to see a close and competitive Mosconi Cup.

Europe dominated most of the 2010's, usually winning comfortably and it didn't look like USA would ever win it again!

But they secured the 2018 & 2019 events, before Europe came back last year and obliterated them.

So hopefully it will be close this year.

Good to see Karl Boyes back for the first time since 2015. He and Darren Appleton stepped in to the World Cup of Pool earlier this year as a late replacement team (as Great Britain 'C') and looked like they'd never been apart.

Currently 2-2 in matches and Jayson Shaw 3-2 up in racks against Shane van Boening (race to 5 for the point).

Could be an exciting couple of days!

Was anyone watching this last night?

Europe were leading 8-5 ahead of the final match of the night, a singles match between David Alcaide and Jeremy Jones.

It went hill-hill and Jones was clearing up. He was on the 5-ball and asked for the cue ball to be cleaned but didn't have a time extension!

The referee Marcel Eckardt cleaned the ball as quickly as he could and replaced it but the timer ran out and Jones time-fouled!

Alcaide had ball in hand and cleared up to put Europe 9-5 ahead when it should have been 8-6.

One of the most monumental cock-ups I've seen in sport.

The general consensus is that Jones thought the timer stopped if the cue ball was being cleaned but why would it? Because if it did, players would use it as a second extension to take a look at the table while the cue ball is being cleaned. So I'm putting it down to silliness from Jones who should have known better.

The difference between 8-6 and 9-5 is huge with it being first to 11 and it can't be underestimated how deflated this will make the Americans. They have to come out of the traps tonight and win the first 3 in a row to have any chance.
