I remember a few years back, when we were going through a pretty bad spell and we weren't winning much, that people were questioning whether teams were afraid to come to Old Trafford anymore. They would say shit like "Teams are now realising Manchester United aren't the force they once were, and are starting to have a go at United.", or "Old Trafford isn't the fortress it once was, teams aren't afraid to go there anymore."

Well, what a load of old tosh that has turned out to be. We have won 40 of our last 47 Premier League games, lost just 3 and drawn the remaining 4. In those 47 games, we have smashed in 115 goals and conceeded just 23. Chelsea may have gone 86 games without defeat, but it would be interesting to see how many of those games were drawn and their record compared with ours over the last 2 and a half seasons.

Credit to the fans, the players and the management for making Old Trafford such a fortress.

This without even mentioning our record at Old Trafford in Europe, I can't honestly think of another stadium in world football that is as fearful as ours at the moment.

I don't think it was old tosh, it was true at the time.

Now we have a much much better team than back then so its understandable that our home form has gotten much better.

Even when we went through our 'transition' phase between 2003 and 2006, our home record was still very good and not as bad as some were making out.

I remember when we lost 6 home league games in the 01/02 season, all before Christmas aswell:eek: That was shocking.

It was terrible for Manchester United. That's the point. It was good home form for most other Premier League teams but shocking for us. Hence why the fear went away. And rightly so, we were playing Alan Smith in midfield for feck sake.

I agree, Elvis.

I AGREE!!!!

:):):):)

If only we had managed to dominate Newcastle on the first day - it would have been a perfect record! We've only conceded at OT in 2 games, and 3 of the 4 goals we have conceded have come against Hull! This record doesn't get much better...

Do let's keep it going against Wigan on Wednesday!

That didn't actually happen. I think we lost 2, to West Ham and Chelsea. 6 League games in total before Christmas, but not at home.
