Only thing I took away from that is Giggs' goalscoring record was really poor.

i think you have to remember when giggs played, it was more a 442 style system than the more favoured 4231, hence he might have found himself in better positions. Robben has only scored 180 career goals, Ribery 138 (both been playing near 17 years now) by the way (club goals)

He was an out and out winger for the majority of his career, and a proper one not these wide forwards like Martial of today.

Goal tally is no way to measure his impact on the game. People are frigging blinded by overly simplistic views on stats these days.

People will argue people like Gerrard was a one club player but he still went away to retire elsewhere.

What about Franco Baresi by the way OP?

Giggs has over three hundred fecking assists. THREE HUNDRED!

And if the season reviews are anything to go by would have had a shed load more if Hughes wasn't such a shit finisher.

Carragher wasn't a Liverpool player in 2014, he retired in 2013.

Also, Gary Neville is an obvious miss from the OP with over 600 games.

Appearance stats from wiki, they only count league games iirc

Inter:
Giacinto Facchetti 476 (59)
Beppe Bergomi 519 (23)
Sandro Mazzola 417 (116)

Nilton Santos - Botafogo - 723 (11)

Ricardo Bochini - Independiente - 653 (105) although he played one game for Barracas Bolivar 16 years after his retirment

Igor Netto FC Spartak Moscow 368 (36)
Valery Voronin Torpedo Moscow 219 (26)
Valentin Ivanov Torpedo Moscow 287 (124)
Eduard Streltsov Torpedo Moscow (with a break on a prison time)
1954—1958 Торпедо (Москва) 89 (48)
1965—1970 Торпедо (Москва) 133 (51)

Carragher looks a little out of place in that list

I don't think we'll see many more one club players going forward. Clubs generally look outward for players more than they do from their youth academies nowadays.

Doesn't John Terry count as a one club man still, or did Chelsea sign him from somewhere?

Yashin saved over 150 penalties in 326 appearances? I assume there were loads he didn't save. How many penalties were his team conceding every game??

He was out on loan at Nottingham Forest years ago. Maybe it's that?

Like in Pele's case, the numbers of Yashin should be taken with a pinch of salt, and who knows what exactly the '150 penalties saved' mean.

He also had 75 matches for Soviet Union, so at least 401 documented matches. I guess that the pens saved include also friendlies, games for army and so on, similar to 1200 goals that Pele scored when half of them were on those type of matches.

Mad how "few" games Yashin played in comparison. Also had "270 clean sheets" apparently. I can't read the OP it seems.

He played 6 games on loan at Forest when he was a youngling.
That's such a harsh reason to leave him out, his trophy haul is up there with the other players on that list.

Surely an exception can be made for loans?

If he was added it'd be 484 apps, 40 goals in 21 years. Honours: 4 PLs, 5 FA Cups, 3 League Cups, 1 CL, 1 UEFA and 2 Community Shields. Oh and a shitload of personal awards, but then again so would most people on that list.

Giggs. Scholes.
Hmmm, maybe the stat i heard was for the 80's, 90's and 00's.

It may have also been from one of those Premier League Years programmes so Giggs and Scholes didn't have it at that point.

One thing I think is amazing is when looking at the trophy hauls, some players clearly had reason to leave their club. It's impressive that Scholes and Giggs stayed with us as long as they did certainly, but it's easier to understand when you look at how many trophies they won. Compare that to Totti who could have definitely moved to a bigger club to win more.

Messi already said he won't finish his career at Barcelona but in Argentina, so you are wrong. Also, both him and Iniesta still play.

Plumbus - Uncompromising and Innovative
Tony Hibbert - Everton (16years)
Appearances: 264
Goals: 0(!)
Honours: None that I´m aware of

At least he will make Carragher more comfortable on the list.

Sir Bobby Charlton as well, although he had a period in Preston - it was as player-manager (I believe).

As does totti. As of now they are both one club players with close to 30 years experience between them so they aren't out of place here
