9 goals and 3 assists in 6 (granted 4 goals came in a cup match but still). Just shot Salzburg to the CL groups stages with 2 goals tonight. Clearly too good for the austrian league. One to keep an eye on.

He needs to stay at Salzburg. He’s one of my sleeper agents who can be regularly relied upon on my betting slips.

the RB franchise certainly can pick their strikers. The other lad who's banned looks handy as well.

Getting a forward who can move off the ball and is relatively fit for the majority of the campaign would be a good start.

Can’t argue with those numbers, tbf. But he does feel like the type of player you’d expect to take one more stepping stone club with before leapfrogging to the very top of the PL list.

The problem with that approach is that he goes to a Leicester or an Everton and you find yourselves being quoted £100m within a couple of seasons. How bad could he be if we were to sign him, we don't have a central striker on 10 league goals as things stand, we are starting from a very very low base.

He is relatively cheap, has the right attributes and in a position we absolutely need options. We aren't getting Haaland in so a signing like this could work wonders for us.

He might make it in a top 5 league, he might, but he still has a lot to prove.

He has excellent numbers in Austria:

Domestic competitions in Austria (BL and cup):
Career: 56 goals and 19 assists in 5034 minutes - 90 minutes per goal, 67 minutes per G+A.
This season (22 years old): 25 goals and 5 assists in 1574 minutes- 63 minutes per goal, 52 minutes per G+A
He is not as impressive in European competitions though:
Career: 1 goal and 1 assist in 447 minutes of CL football - 447 minutes per goal, 224 minutes per G+A
2 goals and 2 assists in 497 minutes of EL football - 249 minutes per goal, 124 minutes per G+A

I watched all of Salzburgs games the fall of 2019 following Haaland, but got to see plenty of this guy as well. He is 2 years older than Haaland and he is a totally different player type, but he does not give me the same top class vibes as the Norwegian did when he played there. His numbers in Europe raises big questionmarks about what he can do on a higher level.

Here is Haalands numbers for Salzburg:
Domestic comps in Austria (19/20 season, 19 years old):
20 goals and 6 assists in 1090 minutes - 55 minutes per goal, 42 minutes per G+A
Europe:
8 goals and 1 assist in 374 minutes of CL football - 47 minutes per goal, 42 minutes per G+A

I think Daka needs to prove himself on a higher level before coming to a top club. It would be a big risk for both him and the club to sign him here, and could end up with him wasting valuable years not getting the needed minutes.

I agree, but the issue you have if you allow another stepping stone club to be the next destination, the price likely sky rockets afterwards and the amount of clubs sniffing around triples.

In this day and age, a player like this going to someone like Leicester and Everton and they emulate that form and get better means they’re pretty much not coming to us, unless we pay ludcrious fees waayyyy above the actual valuation.

It isn’t 2009 anymore. We have to get these guys before they hit the stepping stones.

If we do that, we need to play them and give them time to take the level on the cost of results and not playing our best 11. These guys won't develop on the bench.

Brought this guy on my FM save and hes been absolute dynamite for the past 4 seasons. Obviously means very little however!.

Havent seen him play in the flesh but certainly his figures seem impressive, always remember SAF was wary about players from African nations due to having to play the African Cup of Nations and the travel involved in the qualifiers etc,

If you could get this guy for under £20m then he has to be worth a punt,

How many would Greenwood score playing for RBS?

Just not good enough. He is fast as hell, he can score, but he need space to do so. Space he would not get in the PL or any other top league. His first touch is off too often in big matches. Would be a ok signing for counter attacking team.
Koita is not as good as Daka at the moment, but has the higher ceiling, because all he needs is a little bit more focus.
Koita has 17 & 10 this year in 28 matches. At the moment he is banned till May, but he would be the a good cheap signing.

Damn those are impressive numbers even when in a lower league, should take a punt for him. I mean we threw 15M at James we can splash 25M for him.

We all love United
Sancho and him in the summer. Do it. Because I don’t think Haaland will move anywhere this summer but the next

Could be another Minamino. League performance with Salzburg doesn't say much, unless some of you actually watch him week in week out and see something.

There's a few potential bargain strikers out there that Ole may take a look at seem as it's unlikely Haaland or Kane will be coming.

The likes of Daka, Odsonne Eduord, Moussa Dembele, Raul Jimenez might be worth taking a punt on one of them

I get what you're saying, but there's also another reason a stepping stone club is the smart way to do about things. Less pressure means the player is allowed to grow into a new environment and league.

Many Salzburg fans saw the Minamino signing as a marketing signing. Minamino had a good year but he was a benchplayer the year before and he is too weak for the PL. Salzburg produced some very good players but some never made the next step after leaving. Mane became a worldclass player, Kaita a great player, Haaland will find his way to become one of the worlds best strikers, Upamecano will shine for Bayern, but players like Minamino, Dabbur, Wolf are good, but will never be good enough for Untied. Daka will be a very good player, but not at Real, Bayern, United or Liverpool.....

Reportedly available for roughly £20m IIRC?

Would be a no-brainier! But like others say likely to go to a Leicester or similar and then costing £80m in a year or two.

He would be a good bench player for United but no starter. He needs time and space to score both things the PL is not known for.

He needs time? How's 3 goals in 11 minutes!! A lot of goals, not a lot of time.

The guy knows where the goal is, I'd say he's worth a punt for £20m.

Or we can just play Greenwood up top, or just buy a top class striker. Pointless taking punts on players who lack the technical ability to lead the line for a top team, as 'it's only 20 million' means that's 20 million less towards the actual player we really need.

Great stats in Austrian Bundesliga. 1 goal in 14 CL/EL (19/20, 20/21) games is a bit worrying though.

Did like what i saw from him when I followed Braut in RBS, but can he score against quality opposition?

We should be buying players like this and loaning them out.

We need to get in before the dortmunds of the world buy them, develop them and sell them on for 100mil.

He has Haaland level stats in the Austrian league and his numbers in every metric are through the roof, they do however tail off massively in Europe. He’s a difficult signing to judge, on the one hand you’d love to see him make a step up to a top league at a smaller side first. However in a post covid landscape that signing is then costing you four times the amount if he does step up. I don’t think clubs can afford that anymore.

It’s a real issue that teams with limited pockets comparatively are going to need to find a solution for. You just can’t get players going under the radar analytics wise like you could a few years ago, clubs have a greater infrastructure in place and are wise to it. You can’t let a Mané or a Salah for instance go to a Roma and Southampton and then get them for a reasonable fee anymore. There’s not really that gap that can be exploited in the market anymore. Teams might be only able to get these players at a younger age and there’s no telling if you can develop them properly or give them the game time to become the player that’s ready to start.

His pace and acceleration will fit seamlessly with our style of play. (Before some idiot saying "what kind of style?")

I think Ole will be hoping Greenwood can become our main starting striker within another year or so, So I think we might sign another ageing striker like Cavani, or bring in Danny Ings and keep Cavani perhaps.

We clearly won't be bringing in Kane or Haaland, so outside if those 2, it will not be easy to find a ready made world class striker for affordable money.

He has the technical ability to be able to score a hat trick in 11 minutes... pretty sure there's something there...his record speaks for itself really.
He is actually a very good ball player.

We need a striker don't forget, Cavani potentially not staying, Martial not exactly rooting up trees.
I'd be happy with spending £20m on Daka as that would also leave a healthy chunk of cash for midfield and defence, which are our bigger issues.

Not even as good a ighalo if we wanted that caliber of striker we should have kept him. Wasting 20 million on a player who will never be good enough shouldn’t be on United’s agenda.

Only if we buy Saka and put Wan-Bissaka in the same team.
