Sounds very worrying. My sister in law is from the Philippines and her family still lives there and a good friend owns a holiday resort that he built from scratch and was already decimated a few years ago

On the BBC article, the U.S. Tsunami Warning Center stated that "the tsunami threat from this earthquake has now passed."

The hypocenter of the earthquake was located 32 km below the surface, according to the U.S. Geographic Survey. So far it looks like there was more fear than harm.
