I'll do United but only with players I've seen.

Henderson
G.Neville - Brown - Evans - Pele Neville
Scholes - Butt
Beckham - Pogba - Giggs
Rashford

Can't help but feel I must be missing someone obvious.

It jumps at you, doesn't it?

Neeskens over Sneijder for me in that midfield three. It's not like an Ajax all time team would be about set formations and specialist roles but complete footballers morphing through what's required.

I would have had him in if he'd been a Ajax product. He went to Ajax from RCH Heestede.
Aye, just noticed how bloody hard this is beyond Ajax. Look at that United side above... Most teams just sweep up quality from lesser teams.

Piracy on the High Seas.
Bayern Munich's Junior Team XI could have been up there with the best as the chassis and engine room are remarkable (up there with anything Ajax can offer in my opinion), however they ran out of steam in forward positions and fall noticeably short!

?????—?????—Müller
Schweinsteiger—Beckenbauer—Kroos
Alaba—Schwarzenbeck—Augenthaler—Lahm
Maier

Subs: Pflügler, Hummels, Trochowski, Babbel, et cetera.

River Plate have the opposite problem...sensational attack with the likes of Di Stéfano, Sívori, Moreno, Labruna, Crespo and Loustau, but a sub-standard defense to keep the opposition at bay.

Tried to do this and had the same issue. More so because I'd bench Busquets as that spot there is Guardiola's in my book.

Good spot re Icardi although he didn't play for their first team at all. Alba at least did eventually play for them, but I'd probably go with Sergi myself.

Problem with Germany is some of the oldies played for amateur sides before actually moving to pro football with Bayern so not sure whether that counts. If so, your frontline there has the wrong Muller really. There's Gerd Müller, Karl-Heinz-Rummenigge, Uli Hoeness...

Good man. Why bother with the Neville's and Evans when you can just throw the kitchen sink at them

My thoughts exactly. I've thrown Neville in there instead of Brown because who cares about your right sided centre back when he has Beckham and Best in front of him.

It's a bit daft to make a Man United 11 and play a ridiculous, unrealistic formation.
You could have played like that for about 50 years and nobody would think twice about it.

Of course Beckham would have needed some different training as a right halfback and Gary Neville is far too short for the (original) fullback job. In fact, you lack inches all across the backline.

Firstly, that formation wasn't ridiculous or unrealistic when 5 of the players featuring in it were playing.

Secondly, it would beat a side made up of modern era (after 1985) United academy players every day of the week.

If it makes you feel any better, we can change it to:

Rimmer
Beckham Brown Foulkes Edwards
Stiles
Best Charlton Scholes Giggs
Hughes

Beckham wasn't a full back and neither was Edwards though. Shoe horning players into an 11 doesn't seem right haha, fair enough if you just listed the best 11 players. I know this is hypothetical and a bit of fun so I am sorry for being a spoil sport :D

The bit in bold, that squad would win the PL and CL, it is as good as the 2008 United side.

Being in the Arsenal youth team for less than 12 months is not like being in the Barca youth team for 6 years. He should be seen as a Barca youth product not Arsenal.
I agree it's more clear cut with Barca, but he has qualified as a "Homegrown player" throughout his career.

That is some team. Bit unbalanced, but it might be just crazy enough to work.

Notable names that would be left out of the team: Butt, Rashford, Whiteside, Viollet and Kidd.

Oh, Paolo Guerrero played for Bayern's U23 - he always got chocolate from Gerd Müller, who was assistant of Gerland, when he scored. He might not have played for a big European club but winning the Club World Cup against Chelsea with his goal in 2012 and golden shoes at the Copa America might be a sign that he is great in knockout tournaments.

Sandro Wagner and Misimovic for the bench.

If i did one for us

Bonetti

James
Harris
Christensen
Terry
Le Saux

Wilkins
Mount

Osgood
Greaves
Tambling

Bit unbalanced but couldn't leave those forwards out, if i was to cheat a bit i'd stick Rice in a 3 man midfield (taking Christensen out) as he'd be perfect for giving more freedom to Wilkins and Mount.

Yes? He graduated from Arsenals academy. He joined at 15 but so what? He still played in their youth sides.

Edwards alone in that midfield would run all over most sides
