Pogba and Lukaku IN Sanchez OUT pre-season squad

Depressing squad. And it's probably gonna get worse by the start of the season.

Looking forward to seeing the young lads in the tour, especially Greenwood!

United are gonna need a miracle class of 92' this season with the way things are going. Chong, Greenwood, Gomes, Mensah. But neither will probably play more then 2 games this season .

The state of that squad, to think we had people on here who thought we would be gutting the squad and doing a full rebuild this summer

Expect another long slog of a season where we'd be counting days before it ends.

Literally everyone else is following the dressing code set by Ole. It's about instilling discipline and pride of playing for the biggest club in England. Pogba seems to have seriously half-arsed it in this case.

Not that difficult to get suited up properly as you are required to, Pogba can be such a little baby and probably wanted to play with that so the media pick it up, whilst making Solskjaer realise he doesn't give a feck about him in reality.

I wasn't being sarcastic. I actually think he is a jerk. Can't follow the simplest of instructions.

They literally wear the suit to walk through the airport and changed into comfy clothes for the flight

Exactly. He wouldn't even have to wear the suit for long. Therefore, it should be any easy request to fulfll.

Can't believe some people actually though this joker was captain material.

I expected us to spend big this Summer but only if we sold Pogba, Lukaku & DDG. It look's like they will all be here next season. It's looking like a relatively small transfer spend & a group of players that are not good enough but don't believe they have anything to prove. What could possibly go wrong.

Sorry about that, it's just that there are people who would defend everything Pogba does.

I know the media like to throw a lot of BS, but I'm seriously starting to believe some of the reports that have been made throughout his years at the club about his petulant behaviour.
Didn't know that, but not going on tour might make it difficult for him.
It's a long-term injury unfortunately, no point in him going on tour.

Yes reported as so, perhaps a bit too convenient to avoid the pre-season tour?

Really worried about Sanchez now, and his impact (or lack of it) next season. Apart from seemingly continually getting injured, every few weeks, Sanchez still has to produce any real form for us (although reportedly he had some good games for Chile, but perhaps because the whole Chilean team is built around him?) There do not seem to be any (reported bidders) interest in him from other club, his salary will reduce marginally this year because we are not in the CL, but that is like everyone else; however he is still massively overpaid for what he does and every other player at the club knows it, hence that 'pi**ed off' feeling will still abound in the dressing room.

'Gardening leave' taken far away in Chile might be our best bet, at least the lack of the sight of him will prevent likeness to a red rag to a bull?
I get all of what your saying except for this oft-repeated idea about the other players being pissed off. I mean it would be one thing if they were putting in real shifts and outperforming their own contracts, but who can that really be said about? Is Marcus Rashford honestly going to have the gall to be resentful, given the new contract he's been given, a contract that reflects far more his potential than anything he's actually produced? Same for Martial and Lingard. Pogba might be one, but he wants to leave anyway, so I can't really see what effect Sanchez's contract has on him.

Sanchez is grossly overpaid, but that should be of no concern to the rest of the squad, a squad made up of has-beens, never-has-beens, perma-crocks and Lingard.

Probably our weakest pre season team on paper as far back as I can remember. That said, we've had a few seasons of throwing money around, bring in in huge name players and all with little success so maybe this is the best thing to do for now.

Priority isn't x or y player, it's finding a manager who we think is good enough and then building around them. Unfortunately, Ole is completely unproven so we're running a huge risk with him, fingers crossed he's got a bit about him to survive the media cauldron that will come when we realise our signings for the summer window are finished.

This is basically the same group of players that had us in relegation form for the last few months of the season so it's actually not that hard to believe.

I think that a lot of people have forgotten this.
Unless I was dreaming, we limped to draw against the worst side in the league last year. In our very next match, against Cardiff (who were also one of the worst teams in the league), we lost. That, unfortunately, is our standard and some fans don't want to accept it.

I'm quite confident there will be additions and some leavers from that squad but i'm disappointed a few haven't left already (i'm not talking specifically about Pogba or Lukaku but more about the other dross in our squad). I was looking forward to the club delivering on Ole's words after the Everton game that some of them won't be playing for United again

There's no way we go into the season with just two additions and that squad, and I think Maguire and Fernandes will come here. Get those two and maybe Yedder and thinks will look better

Why are people having a moan and making comments regarding the 'state' of the squad?
They were the players we had last season are they not? Who have we lost, bar Herrera, who would be near a match day squad? Have we not signed 2 new, young and exciting players?

Think that's the problem

You remember that we finished about 30 points off the pace last year right? And since then we've lost Herrera and Fellaini. Yes, we've added a decent right-back and and unproven kid from the Championship, but when you factor in the fact that Pogba and Lukaku want out, and DDG hasn't signed a contract yet it's not hard to see why people are unimpressed.

But I agree in one sense. Last summer people expected Mourinho to challenge for the title with this squad - this season it seems like people will want Ole knighted if he manages top 4 with them. What has changed?

This is what people are moaning for. The thought of another season relying on a pretty weak squad for a club of the size and supposed ambition such as ours. Unless we do more business we are looking at another season of falling further behind our rivals.

That midfield is dreadful. Absolutely dreadful.

After we lost 4-0 to Everton, Ole said 'I’m going to be successful here and there are players there who won’t be part of that successful team'

And yet here we are, every one of the 14 players who took to the field for us that day are on the plane to Australia (except Fred of course because he decided to get married instead of bothering with a full pre-season ).

What is the plan? Are we intending to 'lose' some of them in Botany Bay?

Yeah the same squad that was atrocious all season, bar the two months of new manager syndrome.

Hardly expect people to be happy about a 6-8th place squad quality being maintained across multiple seasons.

But clearly we all know who has left and who we have signed so far. A couple of new faces and the same bunch of players who went on a how many game winning run at the start of the year? We will be OK, have a little faith.

That is a great idea. They are criminal.

Not sure if it's a big thing but i have not seen Pogba in the group photos taken on the plane. He's usually amongst them in these kind of pictures. Maybe he's somewhere sulking alone at the back with Lukaku

Didn't they fall out too?

Maybe they're both at the back of the plane sulking separately.

Quite possible. He is usually amongst it all.

Goalkeepers: David De Gea, Lee Grant, Joel Pereira, Sergio Romero.

Defenders: Diogo Dalot, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof, Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling, Axel Tuanzebe, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian

Midfielders: Tahith Chong, James Garner, Angel Gomes, Daniel James, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Scott McTominay, Andreas Pereira, Paul Pogba, Fred

Forwards: Mason Greenwood, Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford.

Goalkeepers are fine if de Gea is sorted and back on form.

Right Back is sorted

Centre Back - needs work. We need to get a starting pairing - likely through recruiting one more. That will leave us with too much dead wood in the position. Rojo needs to go - cannot see him playing this season. Bailly could also be expendable.

Left Back is OK

Right Wing - too many 'maybe's and 'make dos' and not enough quality in the players who would be most natural in the slot, unless Chong or James are far better than they have shown in their careers to date. Otherwise it's square pegs with Mata/Lingard or possibly Greenwood or Rashford if its more of a front 3

Centre Midfield - Just awful - when Pogba leaves we're left with no reliably quality players in the position. Matic is up and down season on season, Fred is the only other senior midfielder and he's not good enough. Everyone else is young and unproven or lacking in quality. Jesus.

Left Wing - Should be OK

Forwards - I think we are fine - If Lukaku leaves we need a replacement but I think last year was a bit of a hangover from the World Cup for our strikers.

Not exactly original but ideally we need a centre back, a second holding midfielder, an attacking midfielder and a right winger.

If we get a centre back and an attacking midfielder - I still think we should get 4th if we get a good pre-season in, I think (people forget just how disrupted it was last year due to the world cup). Probably we should be looking at doing what Liverpool did to Southampton to Leicester and get Maguire and Maddison.
