Pogba and Lukaku IN Sanchez OUT pre-season squad

Not sure if it's a big thing but i have not seen Pogba in the group photos taken on the plane. He's usually amongst them in these kind of pictures. Maybe he's somewhere sulking alone at the back with Lukaku

Hey Pogba why arent you in stupid instagram photos with JLingz and the gang that everybody loses their shit about when you do ?

Be happy hes not posting on social media for once

After we lost 4-0 to Everton, Ole said 'I’m going to be successful here and there are players there who won’t be part of that successful team'

And yet here we are, every one of the 14 players who took to the field for us that day are on the plane to Australia (except Fred of course because he decided to get married instead of bothering with a full pre-season ).

What is the plan? Are we intending to 'lose' some of them in Botany Bay?
It was all a cheap talk.

He posted something about how much he loves representing Adidas earlier and the sh*t hit the fan. So probably thought better of it.

The same pathetic squad that went on an incredible run towards the end of the season with 2 wins, 2 draws and 8 defeats in the last 12 matches, scoring 8 and conceding 23

What is your definition of "be OK"? Because I can tell you now, this squad as it is will not improve on our league position next season. It won't even maintain it. I guarantee it.

That same squad went on an equally brilliant run in the three months that preceded it. Your assessment of the squad is deliberately skewed the way you want it to be. In truth, the answer (as always) lies somewhere in the middle.

With a pre season to implement coaching ideas, improve upon fitness and bring in a few more faces then the hope is that we improve. Holding that view shouldn’t come in for the criticism it does.

I have said it's not a big thing so no need for your over-reaction to me mate. Or maybe he just doesn't want to be in those photos due to negative reactions

It's still the bulk of the same squad that has failed year after year and proven time and time again they aren't good enough.

And yet we still have complete dross like Rojo and Young and Jones in the squad.

If you're positive or optimistic for the new season then good for you, I wish I could feel the same. I'm dreading the new season.

Not good enough for the title, I agree. But that isn’t changing in one summer and it doesn’t mean I’m going to pretend that the world has ended and that we’re going to finish in the bottom half.

I’m not condoning that the likes of Young, Jones and Rojo are still around either. All three of them are largely shit and shouldn’t be playing for the club.

Furthermore, I’m not overwhelmingly optimistic. But I’m being rational and taking into consideration the rest of the market in relation to our own transfer business. We do have good players at the club. But we do need to replace Herrera and Fellaini. We need a centre half that can pass and head the ball as a priority. In truth, I think competition for Shaw is a huge priority.

But I’m prepared to give it time before I start acting like a tit. If, come September, Ashley Young is at full back, we haven’t signed a centre half, we have sold Pogba for a poor fee and failed to effectively sort out the midfield then I’ll be making a fuss. But we’re not there. Not yet, anyway.

Plus, there’s still a bit of the unknown about next season which is exciting. This time last year I knew for an absolute fact that Mourinho was finished and on the way out. So by comparison I’m buzzing.

Looking at the current state of that squad has really hit it home to me - My hopes this year need to be low otherwise it will be depressing

I think having a "real go" for the CL spots is the maximum I will expect from us this season.

The dithering about with transfers and the fact so much of the deadwood still remains, some of whom are openly unsettled, I just don't see us doing better than that.

I just hope the Evertons, Leicesters and Arsenals of this world don't improve too much:wenger:

Could be a "Banter Season"

That's all fair yeah. Especially the bolded bit, I totally agree with that. You could tell during that pre season game against Liverpool what a shambles we were.

I'm not slagging off anyone buzzing for next season, like I said I wish I was.

I just think it's going to be a horrible season, again. Hopefully I'm wrong and things click.

This is what we are reduced to.

We have untold millions and countless scouts and performance analysts and we still cant find anyone on the entire planet that can play football better than Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones and Chris fecking Smalling.

We will be OK, have a little faith.

I do have faith dude, always do. Only this year I have faith that our midfield is exactly as limited as it was last year. That is a terrible midfield. Teams below us have better.

Herrera has gone, Pogba wants out, And unless Matic is taking his rejuvenating pills we sill actually be weaker.

If Fred can become a more complete player that will help but we really need more in the middle than hope if we want to improve on 6th. And at this point, I genuinely feel that will be a tough one.

What gives me hope is that each one of them has had moments of relative OK-ness. I remember when we praised Smalling. Beanz scored goals and Jones... Well... His Whoscored average is good.

So we might just be OK...

Another show of disdain and arrogance, surely by the look of the rest of the squad they were told to wear the club blazer...but not PP he’s bigger than the manager, team and club, PP does what PP wants...well I for one hope he does and fecks off sharpish.
Impossible to instill a unity and togetherness when he is allowed to do this, SAF would have left him in the airport looking the complete fool in front of the whole team and media

The only thing that pisses me off about it all is the trash still in the squad, not that we haven't strengthened enough yet.

Definite outs for me would be:
Rojo
Bailly
Mata
Darmian

Maybes:
Martial
Lingard
Young
Pereira (both tbh)

Fosu Mensah gets a pass because he's injured, wouldn't be right.

I really don't think it sets the right example to have these guys who've proven year after year to not be up to it and many of whom let us down badly last year and yet they keep picking up that wage packet like it doesn't matter. Pep didn't mess about when he decided he didn't rate his full backs, he let them all go and signed 3 new ones and gave a few youngsters a chance too. Don't see why we can't do the same tbh, particularly with the CBs where we're stacked with ok ones, more than enough, but we just don't have any of the required level. The very least we could do is give the two completely fecking daft ones the boot!

Have we signed anyone whilst on tour in the last few years?

Think most of our recent signings have been made pretty early or very late. Hererra and Shaw came in pretty early when van gaal started then there was a bit of a rush at the end of the window for Rojo, Blind, Di Maria and Falcao. Mikhitariyan and Ibrahimovic came pretty early, Pogba was a bit later in the window. Dalot and Fred early last season then nothing.

People seem to forget that Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal were also horrible in the last couple months of the season. That's why we were still in with a chance of 4th going into the last few games. Was only Liverpool and City who were good. That's also why we even still had a chance for 3rd despite the horrendous form. You're all giving those other 3 teams far too much credit.

Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal may have been concentrating on their European exploits towards the end of the season. We had no distractions and could have easily have got Top 4.

We signed Lukaku on tour. Matic played in 1 tour game after he was signed.

With all due respect, Ole is full of hot air and cliches. His talk is levels above his coaching ability and results and it will continue that way until the fans are done lapping it up.

The truth is we are all hoping he pulls a rabbit out the hat this season. Unfortunately I believe a point in the season will come where the wheels fall off and his faux Sir Alex impression will be seen for what it really is. An imitation and a poor one at that.

Love Ole the player but objectively speaking as a manager he's out of his depth.

It’s good to be cocksure. I see more and more of it, with regards to Ole on here. No perspective, just plain and simple pre judgement. He’s already lost. I hope you are wrong, but I don’t know either way.

What you were talking about, well, we’ve seen Mourinho’s attempts at getting rid of players fail, so of course it should be different for Ole? You guys ‘know’ as much as the rest of us of what goes on behind the scenes, which is nothing, but by all means, carry on with your grand circle**** of Ole is shit.

Cmon, Ole's rhetoric that was laid on very thick when he got the job is now looking and sounding very empty...

'Getting rid of the dross' actually means losing Herrera and Pogba?

New contracts for Jones, 'Youngy' and Mata

Mega, first choice striker type contract for 'Rashy'

'Running' seems to be his footballing vision, as it was with Moyes...

As @El Jefe said, it was just a load of fecking clichés, I think it's fair enough for people to point that out.

But will Pogba show up?

Goalkeepers: David De Gea, Lee Grant, Joel Pereira, Sergio Romero.

Defenders: Diogo Dalot, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof, Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling, Axel Tuanzebe, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young.

Midfielders: Tahith Chong, James Garner, Angel Gomes, Daniel James, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Scott McTominay, Andreas Pereira, Paul Pogba.

Forwards: Mason Greenwood, Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford.

Matteo Darmian and Fred will join the tour at a later date due to family reasons.

No pictures. ;)
Stands out to me just how awful that midfield is. Apart from Pogba that is a midtable midfield. Would any of the rest get on to Watford, West Ham, Everton etc?

Why are people having a moan and making comments regarding the 'state' of the squad?
They were the players we had last season are they not? Who have we lost, bar Herrera, who would be near a match day squad? Have we not signed 2 new, young and exciting players?
Yes and the squad was also dreadful last season. I don't see what your argument is meant to be?

Pretty concerning, let's hope we've got at least two signings in mind as, without Pogba, that's really dreadful.

I live in hope.

Same here. Hope more than expectation though. The only midfielder we have any credible links too is Longstaff. Whilst I'd be happy with us signing him, it's not enough on it's own. I cannot believe that Tottenham and City have strengthened their midfields with very good players whilst we have sat and done nothing. It's absolutely shocking.

Jeez take Pogba out of that central midfield and it becomes a relegation fighting CM.

That squad though. Christ on a bike.

I hope some of them will be left in Australian Desert without phones. They won't have it easy, no snapchat, no twitter, no beans just a huge desert with no help. Then They'll have to search for food in ants nests and drink their own piss to survive.

Two weeks of talking shit about each other for a bottle of piss and They will realize just how lucky They were to be playing for ManUnited, They need to be better, etc etc. However, when They finally arrived back in Manchester, the club staffs should tell them They have always been Everton players and explain that their dream about ManUnited was only fatamorgana.

Spot on. It's a worrying state of affiars.

I guess the whole 'nowhere to hide' bs didn't apply to his pals.

That central midfield... And now imagine it without Pogba. Holy Christ. I thought our forwards were our biggest problem but looking at that...

Bunch of dramaqueens the lot of... your posts (that’s within the rules, right?) Never seen anything like it. Self respect seems to go out the window for a particular portion of our fans. We are where we are, not because of Solskjær, but mismanagement from the top down for over half a decade. What are you actually losing your shit over? That a former player and fan took a shot at his dream job?

I’ve never claimed this would end in success, equally I don’t claim to know it will be a massive failure (you guys). You base this on half of half a season, where everybody had given up on 4th when Ole walked in the door. We came pretty darn close, though. No perspective makes for a lot of ridiculous writing in here.

Edit: Just now I read Herrera’s interview. He didn’t get any indication from the club that we wanted to keep him...until Ole came in, then it was already too late.

I still keep thinking sanchez must re-find his form... how can you just lose it? And he'd be given time off given his involvement in Copa America even if we weren't on tour. I rejuvenated Sanchez would be much better for us than Pogba (and Lukaku)
