That's true, Piersifal. But certain football teams, as with certain larger groups of people, have much bigger problems with racism than others. This should be dealt with.

Agreed...
But i do feel the racists at Lazio (or Verona etc.) get away with exposing their views in public (eg. the Arkan banner) unlike other racist football fans...
That would never happen at any club in England or Spain as the club would we brought to its knees by the public and the press...
Italy and Lazio have a problem and the first step to take to solve the problem is to admit it exists in the first place instead of simply shrugging it off as something that exists everywhere...

Everton had Mike Trebilko (Sp ?) in the 60's - that's a pub trivia question...

its bad in Italy.. but we have our problems. Leeds and Newcastle have a large racist following.
Agreed about Lazio...something should be done.

It's been already done, giggzy. Apart from the usual assholes that are hidden at the Olimpico just like everywhere, nothing related to racism has ever appeared among Lazio fans since 1999.
I post again my words of two weeks ago:
I only get upset when issues are not spoken with judgement or after reading fake, partial and adulterated sources. And when it comes to racism, the easiest thing is to BRAND somebody or worse an entire people of fans (more than 2 millions Lazio supporters in Italy) with that horrible nazist image, because of a few stupid racists (like elsewhere in the world) raised some vomit-like banners, the latest 2 years ago. I repeat it again: when they saw what press could do to an entire community of fans, the leaders of Irriducibili ordered a halt to any booing, although they still think it was meant to be a way to deconcentrate black players and not to stress a racial difference or insult. They gave up also because the rest of the stadium whistled at them, so they thought it over and decided to be intelligent. Still, sometimes a few people keep booing opposite players, whites mainly, to show in a ironical way how exaggerated where the titles on the media about this issue. And while other clubs REALLY have racist problems (i.e. Verona), still Lazio is linked with these facts, abroad. But only if one witnesses this non racist athmosphere by himself at Olimpic Stadium, will the truth prevail.
What I can do, as a single fan, is to spread the real news through forums like this.

Mark Wright fined over racist comment
Oxford manager Mark Wright has been fined £1,750 by the FA after being found guilty of making a racially offensive comment to referee Joe Ross.
Wright was accused of misconduct by the FA after allegedly making two offensive remarks during Oxford's match against Scunthorpe on October 20. He denied making the first of the remarks but was reported by the referee after making the second comment in the presence of several match officials.
A statement on the FA's website confirmed: "On the evidence presented, the commission were not satisfied that the first remark had taken place. They did, however, find that the second remark had been made and the commission took the view that there was a racial element.
"This was taken into account in determining the penalty imposed on Mr Wright - namely a fine of £1,750 and a four-match touchline ban."
Wright has already been suspended by United and is facing further action from the club after a disciplinary hearing on Friday.

May I ask what race you are from Suedesi? Are you black? I don't know, I'm English - the bastard race as the Irish and Scots call us.
No, it's a serious question, because you always have a go at Lazio on this point. Every part of the world, football club or office or whatever is a microcosm of society in general - English football clubs included.
The question you should have asked is: "Does Italy have a racist problem?"

It's easy to paint a picture with only one view point and if you are as blinkered as you it makes it easier.... how about your Hillsbrough songs? How about your Heyesl songs?
Grow up you inbred feckwit!

from what i've heard Italy does have a problem.. as does France. My ex-lecturer was born in Mauritius but grew up in France, toulouse or lyon i think, anyway, he said that the racism in France was very personal and also institutional. England isn't ideal, infact most people are prejudice but... he feels its much better here.

Honest to God I didn't even watch the game.
I was glad that out of all people Liverani scored... slap in the face for Moggi. We had him in sight for so long and Moggi just didn't want to conclude the sale.
I think Juventus will struggle in the league this year. So are you. I think Roma will easily retain the scudetto. That is my honest opinion.

Do you deny that you sing/used to sing the Munich song?

For Christ's sake, Jens. Don't start this. It is obvious from Softy's post that he recognizes that pool fans used to sing the Munich song. He just said that they aren't the only ones who used tragedy to mock other teams (entirely true).
Fergiesarmy is the one who brought this up (totally off subject and unnecessary). Have a go at him.
