Normal boring service continued
As clear a penalty decision as they come. Disgraceful officiating but that’s part and parcel when it comes to Utd. What really pissed me off was Neville on commentary repeatedly saying “never a penalty!” before we could even see a replay. Had that been one of our defenders doing that he’d be screaming “oooohhhh” down the microphone.Just seen the replay of the Garnacho penalty incident on MotD. It's a clear penalty, the defender has both his arms around his body such that he can't move.
How that isn't seen as a penalty I can't understand.
Say you're in a position to score but don't actually score. What exactly was accomplished? The ball that arrived at his forehead was a perfect ball but he skied it over the bar. That's not stellar.Crazy comment. Was better than so many players. Actually gets in positions to score.
When he got the two goals in extra time the second one was a header. I also think he's had another one since though I can't remember against whom.Say you're in a position to score but don't actually score. What exactly was accomplished? We can't consign ourselves to playing hoofball just because McTominay is tall. He's pretty tall, but has he ever scored a header for United?
Does any player score every chance. Getting chances is a skill in itself.Say you're in a position to score but don't actually score. What exactly was accomplished? The ball that arrived at his forehead was a perfect ball but he skied it over the bar. That's not stellar.

And then inevitably misses and that’s despite the fact he offers absolutely nothing else. He gets into good positions as a midfielder too and then hides. It’s crazy how so many of our fans still can’t see it. The bashing of Fred on here for years. He was doing the work of two players, the poor fecker.Crazy comment. Was better than so many players. I would not even blame the players, this is just bad recruitment, no culture at this club .Ive been saying we should get rid of a number of players who simply are not good enough, past their best or who dont have the right attitude. We pay ridiculous wages to players who seem to be more than happy to sit on the bench, that is of course when theyre "fit" enough or stroll through matches without seeming to give a damn. For a while against Spurs I was starting to think that maybe the players had turned a corner, they were playing, fighting, chasing and pressing and looked like a Manchester United team; how ever, by midway through the second half I had returned to my previous belief and I truly think that of the starting 11 on Sunday only Kobbie Mainoo, Wan Bissaka, Garnacho, Bruno and Hojland deserve to be retained, the rest, including Antony and McTominay should be ditched, along with Martial, Sancho, Lindelof and Shaw. To be fair Dalot played well and perhaps deserves the benefit of the doubt but while Onana did nothing wrong he doesnt exactly fill me with confidence. There needs to be a major rethinking of who and how we recruit and the wages we pay and a massive overhaul of how the club is run if we ever hope to rise above our current level of mediocrity.
Agreed, and I was glad to see Keano make this same point. The only good things we can take from this match are Hojlunds goal and the return of Martinez, the rest was dross, and Rashfords pathetic "celebration" for his goal in which he seems to have a dig at those who have been critical of his performances was pure petulance; he's been poor for months and plays with a face that looks like a smacked arse. Well, his poor form is down to himself and nobody else; one goal doesnt make a season.
Strawman Alert. There’s a significant difference between “every chance” and the chance that McTominay had at the end of the game v Spurs. Scoring on such a chance is the only McTominay is on the pitch. He’s not a deep lying playmaker, not a destroyer, not a B2B, not a winger, not a chance creator…and truth be told he’s not a striker.Does any player score every chance. Getting chances is a skill in itself.
A cross to the box in the last minute is hardly hoofball
All just a wierd agenda, he is this season's de gea / Maguire scapegoat. There are a few deluded hipsters in the hojlund thread saying when mctominay gets out of hojlunds space he will start scoring.
Very true, Marcus may have developed self confidence as a man, but as a player he is not moving forward; he fails to recognise his 'party pieces' don't work as well as they did last year and that defenders have got the measure of his 'cut in' preferences. It's true occasionally, if he gets a head start his speed takes him into the heart of the six-yard area, but his heads always down, he's not looking for anyone else and its a 'sh** or bust' approach, even the ball to Rasmus on Sunday, looked poor, like he had lost control and the ball luckily rolled into Rasmus path. I agree with the general sentiment and assessment, but to be fair I thought McTominay actually did pretty well after coming on. This time. And then inevitably misses and that’s despite the fact he offers absolutely nothing else. He gets into good positions as a midfielder too and then hides. It’s crazy how so many of our fans still can’t see it. The bashing of Fred on here for years. He was doing the work of two players, the poor fecker.
Again to be fair, he clarified that celebration subsequently and it seems it wasn't directed at "those who have been critical of his performances", but rather against accusations of disloyalty for liking Jadon Sanchos Twitter post about being back in training at Dortmund. Which I for one don't have much of a problem with, though he might have considered how likely he would be to be perceived that way - goal celebrations and fans response to it isn't exactly the clearest form of communication around....But we should think about that too, before reading too much into things.
