If Liverpool lose this; it's just a friendly to build up fitness etc. If they win, they have proven that they can win the league.
Would be different if this was a real tournament i.e. not a friendly.

Seeing a lot of people reading waaay too much into this. The 'don't judge anything based on pre-season' applies just as much to City and Liverpool as it does to us, lads.

Ugh, a fan in a United top applauding Gerrard off the pitch. That's the odd thing about new supporters that pick up a team without any sense of history (or present for that matter).
Think its different with us because of the new manager and clear difference in system and style. Liverpool and City were both missing a decent amount of players though and they are more settled, not trying anything vastly different from last season, so you can't read much into their performances.

yeah... had a United supporter here..that wanted to go watch City in a pre-season friendly and actually thought Gerrard deserved to win teh league last season. He stopped after seeing the strange reaction on my face....
Whatever the manager says, winning isn't generally the most important thing, so regardless of how many managerial/player changes the team is adapting to, it's never wise to read anything into these games. Theirs or ours.
