"I can only tell you about the squad, locker room, coaching staff. Everybody was very disappointed not only about result but also performance. We have four days of training before Aston Villa, my job is to make sure we show a different performance."
"They are at least trying. I am sure they are listening. I think we showed in the last games against Palace and Burnley and in parts against Norwich and Newcastle, that they're trying to follow the advice we give. We conceded less goals than before (an average of 0.6 in those six games). But it is about balance between offence and defence. We still have work to do to get better on."
"All the players were disappointed and frustrated, like myself. In the first-half we didn't get hold of the build up of Wolves, second-half was better, we didn't score, we conceded 10 mins from time. It's a question of balance, offence and defence. Offensively, we have quality, but we have to show the best possible balance."/QUOTE]
"It doesn't help if there is a profile missing. We need to work with the players we have. We have shown we are able to keep clean sheets with these players, but it's what we're doing with and without the ball. We had too many turnovers in that game. We shouldn't make it too easy for the other times when we have the ball. It's about responsible decision-making at the right moment."
"This is not only an issue with a club like Manchester United. When you have a big squad, in the last two games, we had most of the players available. We had three centre-backs missing against Wolves. In general, we had most of the players available, apart from Paul Pogba and 10 few players can play, three subbed, then you have quite a number of players who don't even play or not even in the squad. Those players are unhappy about the situation, it's obvious, clear. I tend to explain to players every two or three weeks why they are not playing and that is an issue in our team and other clubs."
"We have players with contracts expiring in the summer. We also have one or two more players who want to leave and are under contract. It's about the players dealing with that in a professional way, showing up in training, showing up, getting a chance to play. If this is not the case, the player, club, and agents need to discuss the situation. I cannot say to anyone else. I will address that to the players directly."
"I mean yes we have made some progress but obviousy versus Wolves was a step back, a relapse to habits we have shown in the past. We need to insist we that we need to work together. We can only get better in possession of the ball, when the other team have possession, and in transitional moments - together. We have to do things together. With passion, emotion and intensity. This was the problem against Wolves. We were only escorting them. It was only David de Gea who did. He kept us in the game. Second-half was better with a back-three. It's about finding a sustainable balance for the future and this can only be done together."
what midfield profile the team is missing and would he address it in Jan window?Midfield issues
Midfielders who can midfieldwhat midfield profile the team is missing and would he address it in Jan window?
That's what I want to know
Isn't it quite clear? Watch any other team and you will know.what midfield profile the team is missing and would he address it in Jan window?

Exactly this. Its not rocket science. The thing is, there are some things that a coach just can't make you do, as a player. You either do it, or you don't. Case in point. One a few occasions, Sancho had the ball on the left and there was a potential 2-on-1 overload, but Shaw jogged into the overlap position and the advantage was lost. So when I see Robertson, in the exact same situation sprinting to make the overlap, all you can say is that he's doing it because (a) he understands the importance of it, and (b) he has the self-motivation to ensure it happens.
Players need to realise that a system or philosophy can, and often does, fail because the effort levels aren't there to make them effective. Imagine Liverpool's counter-press if the midfield and forwards pressed just a little bit less, reacted just a little bit slower on 2nd balls and loose balls. We'd criticise the system, but work-ethic off-the-ball and on it changes everything. For whatever reason a large portion of our players expect the tactics to do the work for them.
Think Hirst did say the money was there for signings. If the club is going to trust RR, they should let him get a CM or two this window. Obviously, even if we have Tommy, Fred and Matic at their peak, it is not enough to cover the rest of the season let alone with the current forms of theirs.
so honestThey are at least trying...
He said a profile is missing and have to do with what he has. Not sure if we are going to reinforce there at all. We have DVB and Pogba there. But who knows if they will help his system.Think Hirst did say the money was there for signings.
Yes exactly. It's not just about knowing what to do and when to do it - but then to do it with speed, commitment, intensity. The thing is, there are some things that a coach just can't make you do, as a player. He mentioned responsible decision making with the ball... Rangnick may be the perfect manager to improve Bruno because that's the one area he struggles so much with
I think in combination with his comments about not having the right player profile in midfield, he might be talking about signing a proper playmaker at CM.He said a profile is missing and have to do with what he has. Not sure if we are going to reinforce there at all. We have DVB and Pogba there. But who knows if they will help his system.
As long as our CMs can't control or pass the ball in a decent manner, we will go with long ball 4 2 4 formation. When I say pass the ball forward, I don't mean passing it straight with a bullet train speed to a forward with 2 CB man marking tight just for the sake of passing it forward.
