Woohoo!

I've been fecking starved of reserve games this season :D
It's actually not a reserve game :) All our reserve-players are either on-loan or with the first team for the WBA game...

IMO - it should practically be our academy-game all over again :)

Strong squad to select from
Posted on: Mon 26 Jan 2009

Iain Brunskill has once again got a strong squad at his disposal as his Reserves side take on Manchester United at Morecambe's Christie Park this evening.

Following on from his substitute appearance for the first team against Sunderland in the FA Cup at the weekend, new signing Gaël Givet will get another run out.

He is joined in the squad by fellow first teamers Jason Brown, Zurab Khizanishvili and Martin Olsson.

Striker Nick Blackman will be looking to make it three goals in three games after scoring on his debut against Oldham in the Lancashire Senior Cup and then last week he rescued a point for the Reserves in their 1-1 draw at Bolton Wanderers.

Rovers will select from: Brown, Kane, Givet, Khizanishvili, Winnard, Gunning, Hodge, Doran, Judge, Marshall, Clarke, Villanueva, Olsson, Blackman, Nielsen, Marrow, Haworth, O'Keefe, J. Santa Cruz.

Manchester United: Amos, Evans, Derbyshire, De Laet, Chester, James, Eikrem, Drinkwater, Macheda, Petrucci, Brandy, Stewart, Devlin, Norwood, Bryan, Dudgeon.

Kick-off at Christie Park is at 7.00pm.

Strong Blackburn squad that.

Reserves on the road

United’s second-string resume competitive league action for the first time in more than a month, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men travel to Morecambe Park to face Blackburn Rovers.

Recent cold weather has seen two fixtures postponed but there are no such worries this evening.

United’s side contains a healthy dose of youth, including Italian starlets Federico Macheda and Davide Petrucci. James Chester captains the side after earning his first-team debut last Tuesday against Derby County, while recent signing Ritchie De Laet lines up in the centre of defence.

The Reserves' most recent run-out was in the Lancashire Senior Cup last Thursday, where goals from Macheda, Petrucci and Febian Brandy gave the Reds a 3-0 win over Altrincham.

Monday's match against Blackburn Rovers kicks off at 19:00 GMT and you can catch all the action live on MUTV.

United squad: Amos, Evans C, Derbyshire, De Laet, Chester, James, Eikrem, Drinkwater, Macheda, Petrucci, Brandy, Stewart, Devlin, Norwood, Bryan, Dudgeon

Would assume that 'squad' is the team and subs in number order 1-16.

Walter Crickmer started it all...
Half an hour gone.......Blackburn have had most of the play although we have had one or two half chances.

Our defence is being worked hard by a much more experienced Rovers side.

Still.....we are still in the game at 0-0!

Half Time.

Blackburn the better team in a poor enough match football wise. Uniteds better players so far would be Chester, Derbyshire and Amos. De Laet has had a testing first half. The midfield needs to take some sort of hold on the game to get our 2 Italians into the match

Yeah he looks a bit sloppy!

The ref has missed a few fouls both ways!
